The 10th Day of Thanksgiving: Great Parents

Dear Mom and Dad,

I love you dearly and I am so grateful for all you have done for me, from the time I was small to today. I have learned great lessons from you—thank you for teaching me the principles that have helped mold me and shaped my values, including:

From you, Dad:
1) A love of my Savior that fills my heart.
2) An understanding that greatness comes from hard work. Everything we desire in life, we can achieve if we but work for it.
3) A loyalty to country. You served in the Army when you were young and modeled such a good example of loving our nation and recognizing the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy here.

From you, Mom:
1) A zest for life, exploration, and open-mindedness. You taught me that knowledge truly is power and that I should learn all I can.
2) A passion for creativity. You showed me that if I can imagine something, I can create it. I learned this applies to everything—if I can visualize success, I can achieve it. If I can visualize a product, I can develop it.
3) The importance of being a lady. You have always been a wonderful example of all that a lady should be—your beauty and poise still inspires me. I know I was a bit of a tomboy as a child, loving to climb trees, ride bikes, and run races. But you taught me the beauty of being a lady: how to walk, speak, and be presentable.

I’m grateful to you both for giving me the gift of life. Your love and example gave me what I needed to become a person of my own and to become a mother myself. I thank you for all the valuable lessons you taught me and endeavor to honor you by doing the same for my own children.
