Just a few months ago, we added a new flower to the Lynton garden: Baby Lilly Lynton, born to my son Jared and his wife Leslie. Today’s Color Me Monday color combination is in honor of Lilly, who truly is heaven sent. For today’s projects, I wanted something as extraordinary and unique as she is—so I went bold and daring, mixing the “pucker up” colors of wild Hollyhock and juicy Key Lime, mellowed a bit by Baby Pink and Grey Wool. And the results are absolutely fantastic! I find that a sharp punch of color—like the tangy green and pink work best when paired with something neutral. Grey Wool really did the trick, particularly with my black-and-white photos of Lilly. Remember that the trick to creating great color combinations is balance and even restraint. My pinks pop even more when tempered by the neutral, allowing my lovely Lilly to bloom on the page. I think the color is absolutely beautiful—and of course, so is she!
