I love the season of love—Valentine’s Day! It’s a great chance to tell sweethearts and sweet friends just how much they mean to you all year through. Everyone loves the classic pinks and reds used to adorn the holiday, and I’m no different: today’s color combination uses Tulip balanced with Black and White Daisy. But I’ve jazzed up the combo by tossing in Juniper, a sassy blue-green that adds a little kick to my cards.
My favorite project this week is a twist on two Christmas traditions, blending holiday trees and the 12 Days of Christmas into a “14 Days of Valentines” tree. Start with a wooden stand from a craft store, paint it a neutral color, then top with a paper heart trimmed from a coordinating Background and Texture paper. Create a series of 14 valentines—sweet and simple in a 3" × 3" size—and adorn the front of each one with a number from 1 to 14 and your choice of stamped images and embellishments.
The important part is on the inside, where you share a little of your heart with the one you love. The messages can be silly, sweet, or sincere, but they’ll be treasured, I guarantee. Hang a new note on the tree for each day in February leading up to the “Big Day” and watch your Valentine’s Tree take root!

ReplyDeleteThe Valentines tree is amazing. That would be really awesome for Halloween and Easter as well. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI am going to use this color palate...I have a hard time getting inspired to make Valentines but I need to make some for my children! The Juniper takes it out of the "too sweet" pink mode and revs up the other colors. Thank you for this inspiration!
