Goofs, and Flubs!

Have you ever made a spectacular spectacle of yourself? Ever had a moment of total embarrassment? I have, and I’ve lived to tell the tale. The other night, I was thinking about a doozy of such an embarrassing moment, which I feel brave enough to share:

Many years ago, when I had just started my business, I wasn’t only the CEO of the company—I was also a consultant. One night, I was demonstrating a brand new and exciting product, embossing powder! Because we didn’t have craft heat tools back then I usually showed how to set embossing powder on the hostess’s stove—but this particular night the stove was not the usual electric stove that I was used to working on; the stove was a gas one! I had never practiced embossing powder on a gas stove! Yup, you can guess what happened next: as the embossing powder began to melt and glaze, suddenly, the paper and powder burst into flames right there in my hand. I shrieked and burst into laughter at the craziness of it all.

The entire roomful of customers was stunned and silent, giving each other uncertain glances as I patted out the fire and tried to wave away the smoke. What can I say—I didn’t sell a whole lot of embossing powder that night. They told me they were scared of the stuff. But what might have been a mortifying moment then has become a fond and funny remembrance of the beginning of my business journey. Grateful I am that I was and am able to laugh at myself.

Something similar happened just two years ago, when my shoe slipped away from my foot as I walked onstage at our 2008 Convention—and I fell COMPLETELY ON THE FLOOR on all fours in front of hundreds, and hundreds, and hundreds of people! I tell you, after the shock, I had never jumped up so fast in my entire life. I could even hear on a stagehand’s earpiece, our show producer hollering unmentionables. In the wings, the entire CTMH staff had leapt to their feet, and everyone in the audience gasped. I just wiggled my shoe back onto my foot, went out on stage and made a joke, and on went the show.

These stand-out goofs have reminded me that we are ALL human. We all flub up sometimes. When we laugh about it and go forward we become better people and those who know and love us rally in support … and provide a little gentle teasing, too!
So… what’s your “wonderful whoops,” you’ll always remember? Dare to share your story (and what you learned from it!) before Tuesday, April 20, when I’ll be drawing 10 confessors—er, commenters—at random to receive the brand new Zippidee Workshop on the Go kit from our Summer Idea Book collection. It includes the Zippidee level 2 paper pack, an exclusive new coordinating stamp set, dimensional elements, and new patterns for scrapbook pages and cards. You’ll get this kit even before you can buy it, and with a name like “Zippidee” you know using the kit will be as fun as sharing your fabulous flub!

  1. Determined to meet the visitors at church, I leaned over and asked the gal, "Is this your daughter?" Her reply startled me and she has never let me live it down as we have become lifelong friends. "No, she is my sister!" Oops, I've learned to ask a more general question of "So, are you related?", to people I have met for the first time:)

  2. I had just met my brother's new girlfriend, and had promptly forgotten her name. (I'm terrible with names!) My mom told me that her name was Jenny, so the entire day I called her Jenny. I found out at the end of the day that her name was Jenna, not Jenny, and no one bothered to correct me! I was so embarassed! :-)

  3. At my first party everything went GREAT. The layouts went smoothly,
I made some sales and booked a party! Everone left happy and the hostess was happy with her freebies! I packed up my stuff and backed out of her driveway and into her car parked across the street. OMG how mortifying telling your hostess you just hit her car. I had it in the shop and fixed but it was horrible!! BUT she still loves CTMH and ME LOL :D Happy Ending!

  4. Well I can't believe I am going to share this one! Last summer we went down to lake powell with a bunch of my husbands co workers most of whom I met for the first time! It was night time and we were sitting around the campire hanging out. I decided that I wanted to brush my teath and tuck in for the night. I thought I had grabbed hat I thought was toothpaste and started to brush...Emmediatley I started to gag and realised I had grabbed my sons A&D ointment instead. To this day I have never lived that moment down. And if anything I guess they always have something to tease me about. :)

  5. Through the years I have learned to laugh at myself, the adage that life is too short to be taken seriously was a bit of wisdom learned along the rough road of my life. Today, I am grateful to be able to look back in time when life’s challenges seemed insurmountable and find little moments where I can laugh like a little child without a care in the world.

In 2003, shortly after becoming a single parent and primary caregiver to my four beautiful children, I was discovering that after years of furiously dog-paddling to try and stay afloat in the rough ocean that represented my marriage, I could simply put my feet down and touch bottom. The risk of drowning gone, along with the uncertainty of anything connected to my marriage.

For the first time in my life, I had a car. It was a 1986 Toyota Bucket O’ Rust with windows that didn’t close and doors that did not open. It had a 5th gear, but I had to hold the gearshift in place when I needed to be in 5th gear. The car had no radio, but came fully equipped with a stick that held the trunk open. Air conditioning came courtesy of that big rusted hole in the floor... But it was my very own car and I loved it.

It was this car that took me on several road trips to my sister’s home 2 hours away. My right arm got quite the workout that year from having to hold the car in 5th gear doing highway speeds! On the way home from one of these trips early one summer evening, I noticed that my fuel tank was getting low. As there is only one small town between my sister’s home and mine, I was not sure if my little car would make it home and I was growing more anxious by the minute. My anxiety kept growing and pretty soon, I had myself convinced that my little family was going to be stuck on the side of the road. I was watching my fuel gauge, silently pleading with the little red needle to move back out of the red zone. But not only was the needle stubbornly staying in the red, I was noticing that my display panel was getting dimmer and dimmer. By this time, I was in a state of panic because I was now starting to think that the battery to my beloved car was dying and we were going to break down any second. I had visions of serial killers or kidnappers seeing the vulnerability of the situation and we would all disappear from the face of the earth 5 seconds after my car died on the side of the road. On the verge of tears I woke my son who was peacefully dozing next to me, totally oblivious to my panic. I gave him my cell phone and reluctantly asked him to call his dad to tell him that I think the car wasn’t going to make it home and could he come meet us; that the lights were getting really dim and I was afraid the battery was dying.

My son - beautiful, precious boy and so very smart, took one look at me and then looked outside at the sun going down and said, “Mom. Take off your sunglasses.”

  6. I think one of the most embarrassing times I've had is when I fell in our school lunch room in front of half the student body. I am a secretary at a high school. I was wearing my red cowboy boots and denim skirt and happened to find a slick spot on the floor in front of the salad bar. Down I went and hit my knee pretty hard. Needless to say, I didn't much want to stay and eat my lunch. My knee healed and so has my embarrassment and now I can laugh about it, but it was anything but funny at the time.

  7. At my 6-yr old son's basektball game, my 3-yr-old daughter scampered off and I chased her. She ran into the "entrance tunnel" (made of fabric and PVC pipe) and trailed her fingers through the streamers. I was trying keep her from grabbing fistfuls of fabric and the whole contraption fell down around me. She was already out in the hall, so there I stood with the "tunnel" collapsed around me in full view of both games being played - parents, spectators, players, refs, you name it. Everyone stopped to look. I just gave a little wave.

  9. Wow I have many but my here's one of the worst ones! I was 16 and was working at my first job at a movie theater. We were closing the concession stand and I had a container of liquid butter that I was taking back to the kitchen. I dropped it and slipped and fell in the butter. Then to top it off I tried to pick myself up by grabbing the wall (which had no where for me to grip it) and ended up falling back down. This happened in front of several people and no one bothered to help me! Thanks to this fall I twisted my knee and had to get a full leg brace! Yeah try being 16 and wearing that to high school! NOT COOL! Good thing is I kept the job and continued to work at the theater for awhile longer!

  10. At work we use Microsoft SharePoint as a communications tool. We have all our official documents, announcements, etc. on it. Well, we don't have a training manual for it and my boss wanted me to use it, so I had to figure it out on my own.

I started tinkering with things, figuring out how to create new features. One didn't work out, so I tried to figure out how to delete it. Instead of deleting that one little site feature, I deleted the entire department site. I had to contact the IT guys who stayed at work until 10:00 that night, fixing my mistake. I had made them promise not to tell my boss, as she's pretty strict. They agreed, but made fun of me for days. Even brought up a camera to take a picture of me blushing profusely.

About a week later was Boss's Day and my co-workers made me tell my boss. Instead of being mad, she laughed! I guess my lesson was to read more carefully when I'm messing with things I know little about. And not to be so afraid of my boss. :)

  11. I was a "Trainer For The Day" at Sea World. I had had a super rough year, so this was a gift to myself. My Husband came with me and watched as I participated in the different activities. One of those activities was swimming with the dolphins. We were in wetsuits, but the water was freezing cold. The trainer told me to "grab the flipper". In my freezing state of mind I brought my foot up to the top of the water and grabbed my foot. Everyone (including my Husband) gave me a funny look. I then figured out she meant for me to grab the dolphins flipper. Man, was I embarrassed. My Husband still likes to tease me about my "flipper".

  12. I was a new nervous pharmaceutical rep and when the doctor came out to see me, I opened my binder to get out a sales detail and my entire binder with hundreds of pages broke and everything came spilling unto the floor. The doctor and everyone who was near came over to help pick it up, but I felt like such a newbie and embarassed!!

  13. Okay, so this must be a powerful memory because it goes WAY back in time. I was in Junior High - in P.E. class. We were doing basketball (one of my worst sports) and I managed to score a basket - in the wrong basket!!! I remember all the girls laughing. What makes it more powerful is that one of the most athletic girls in school came over to me and said, "It's okay. I've done that before too!" It made me feel better. That has stuck with me - that people can be very kind in spite of peer pressure to the contrary. It also helps me as a middle school teacher. I remember how fragile the ego is during those years!

  14. Fortunately as a 4th grade teacher I am able to laugh at myself as I make "flubs" and "bloopers" in front of my class. I just tell my students that teachers are human to and make mistakes! My one flub that thoroughly embarrassed me was accompanying a singer on my guitar at a wedding. I lost my place and there were a few seconds of no guitar accompaniment while she was singing! I apologized to her and left right after the wedding without even going to the reception! I was young back then and am a lot kinder to myself for my mistakes!

  15. My husband and I were so excited to share our new daughter with family and friends after she was born. After they had taken us to our room, my husband snapped some photos and uploaded them to our blog. I was busy and tried, and I didn't bother to preview the photos that were being posted. A few hours later, a family member called to let me know that we had posted a picture that not only showed off baby, but a part of mom as well-- apparently my hospital nursing gown was gaped open and if you looked closely you got a nice view of my chest. How embarrassing! We took the photo down, but to this day at family gatherings I am teased about my indecent exposure!

  16. When I was pretty little, about 8 or 9, I played on a basketball team because my dad was the coach. We were in the middle of a game, a fast paced one, and my nose would NOT stop running. I kept swiping at it and continued to run, then finally looked at my hand. I was covered in BLOOD! It was my very first bloody nose and it was all over my face! I ran over to my dad on the sidelines, yelled "I have a bloody nose!" and ran off the court-never knowing I should've called a time out or anything! After all that, my dad drove me home while the game went on, and I sat home while he went back to the game. My mom wanted to know what had happened, and SHE even knew that I should've called a time out! Eekk!

  17. One Sunday afternoon, when our kids were little, we all went for a ride on the family boat. It was approaching an early dinner time, so we pulled up to a dock that was MUCH higher than the side of our boat. My husband was the driver, so it was up to me to climb up and over the rail on the wall, and to go in to see if we could get into the restaurant for dinner.

I started the climb, everything was going well and I was just about home free... Once I was up and almost over, I realize that I was going to have to jump down from the rail, but I couldn't figure out how to do it gracefully. Sadly for me, there were about 50 people sitting at the outside tables enjoying their dinner on this beautiful late afternoon! So, I decided to put my foot just so on the railing, and do a quick hop down... NOT! My foot slipped and I ended up crashing down on to my rear-end...

I was so embarrassed, but I wanted to still try and save some of my dignity. I quietly stood up and started to brush off my back side and planned to hurry out of there... But, oh, no... that would be too easy! I heard this sound and slowly turned around to find all 50 people clapping at my escapade! The only thing I could think to do, besides turn 20 shades of red, was to do a deep curtsey for everyone! They all laughed and I got out of there FAST!

That was probably 25 years ago, and I still remember it like it was yesterday!

  18. When I was a student teacher, during a class of 9th grade beginning French students with my supervising teacher observing (for a grade no less), one of my troublemakers politely raised his hand. I called on him, and he asked, "How do you say 'pass gas' in French?" At 20, I thought I would die!!! I said something about how that wasn't part of our lesson and kept going. The snickers died down, but I think my face stayed red for the rest of the class period!

  19. I have had a couple of embarrassing moments while participating in workshops at my CTMH Consultant's house. The first one happened when I put adhesive on the wrong side of my project (I am always in a hurry!) and gasped, then I had to tell everyone what had happened and as I was telling them I suddenly remembered my consultant recently told us about the Rub and Remove Eraser so I quickly located hers and happily started erasing the adhesive away. My consultant said I was a good salesperson for that product. The other flub happened when I stamped the wrong sentiment on my card. I had intended to remove the Happy Birthday stamp and instead removed the Happy Holidays stamp and didn't realize it until I looked at my stamped card. I guess the lesson here is just slow down!! I'm sure these won't be the last flubs and I still enoy stamping very much. Laurie W.

  20. In the town where I grew up, there was a lady who had the same winter jacket as my mom. Oe day, she got a similar haircut and I was going to a coffee shop with my friend on a schoo lunch break. I saw the lady sitting in the coffee shop, with her back to me. I assumed it was my mom and I walked up to her and asked her for money. I was mortified when I found out it wasn't my mom.

  21. I have been married for 26 years but right after my husband and I married, we went to one of his company's barbeques. It was at a local reservoir and there were jet skis to ride. I bought a new bathing suit to wear to the barbeque. My husband and I were riding the jet skis and when we came to shore, my husband realized to my horror that my bathing suit had become nearly transparent (it was white) and I flashed (so to speak) everyone at my husband's company. He worked there for 10 more years after that and he was asked every year if I was going to wear that cool bathing suit!

  22. Lets see I got a good one! I think one of the most embarrassing times I ever had was in high school. I was a freshmen cheerleader and one day we had to wear our cheer uniforms to school for the afternoon assembly doesn't sound too bad you say well on the way to the the assembly I stop to go to the bathroom and then made my way to the gym. What I didn't know then was the back of my skirt was tucked in to the back of my bloomers. (small blue underwear yo wear under you skirt) So basically the whole gym got to see half my bottom. Not very fun and really embarrassing.

  23. I think my most embarrassing moment that has really stayed with me is when I was about 11yrs old, I was at a friends house and we were getting ready to eat dinner, her whole family was there and I was starved, my belly started to growl so bad that the little dog they had put his ears back and growled, someone spoke up and said it sounded like the bear was outback in the yard, I felt so bad and never told that it was my belly, I never ate dinner there agin either. I also try to not let myself get that hungry anymore.

The waiter came around and took our orders. I ordered the trout (the only thing I could read on the menu). He asked me if I wanted soup or salad with my dinner. I thought he asked if I wanted "super salad", so I said yes. The waiter must have understood what I heard and said "no, soup OR salad. I was so embarrassed! I have yet to live that one down.

  25. When I was in college, my family took a trip to Hawaii. Our hotel suite had a gorgeous balcony with an incredible view of the ocean. I decided to test out the video camera that my uncle had loaned us. This was an old style video camera where you actually had to look through the viewfinder for videoing (no video screen here!) I wanted to record that awesome view so I walked through the suite and out towards the balcony, when - WHAM! I walked straight into the sliding glass door! My family has NEVER let me forget that moment and the best part is that it is captured on video. I can laugh at it too, now. Great family memories!

I was an 18 year old university co-op student in a high school for my work term. I was assigned to the gym teachers. What a great job--I thought!!! I was helping to teach a phys. ed. basketball lesson to a large class of grade 9 boys when I happened to have the misfortune of using the term "please hold your balls". You can image what the boys did with that one. I was laughed out of the gym by all--even the teacher. Took me weeks to gain the courage to go back into that class!! I definitely learned that I needed to choose my words wisely and that I never wanted to teach high school again!!! I am now a grade one teacher and love every moment of it (especially since they don't understand adult inuendos!!!!)

  29. Most recently, I was sitting in the front of our church, where I was conducting a meeting, and looked down after the meeting was half over and realized I was wearing one black shoe and one navy blue shoe. Somehow the light in my closet hadn't disclosed that the shoes that looked similar, were NOT! As I let out a soft gasp and immediately tucked my feet under the chair as far as I could, my friend next to me, leaned over, and said, "Get dressed too early this morning?" OH, that was so embarassing!

  30. I was at convention in 2008 when you fell onstage. It was a self changing moment for me... I have Cerebral Palsy. I love being consultant but I am always aware that I can fall at any moment so I have been careful about where and who I demo with.

So here I am sitting in the crowd as you fell and all I could think of is, she is the leader of this company and if she can just get up and go then so can I. Since that day I have been putting myself "out there" more and if I happen to fall then so be it. Life happens :-)

    Thank you for being you!

  31. Isn't it interesting how these embarrassing moments make such an impact on us, that we remember them for YEARS?! I am now 43 years old, but I remember, clear as if it were last week, that while I was attending my 6th grade Outdoor Camp, I awoke with a start and screamed out "Mommy!" in the middle of the night! To this day, I will awake with a yell occasionally, but in 6th grade, it was definitely not 'cool' to still be yelling out for MOMMY. When someone commented the next day, 'did you hear someone yell out in their sleep last night?' I answered very casually, "no, I slept right through!" Now on the other hand, I can fess up!

  32. Well, I have so many to choose from, but here's one. We used to get together with a huge number of my husband's family for Thanksgiving most years. The food would be all laid out on an island in the kitchen and we would file by and dish it onto our plates. I dished up a raspberry jello layered dish, bright red, and stood waiting for my turn at whatever was next. Somehow, I forgot I had the jello and tipped the plate. The jello smeared down the front of my clothing, leaving a red dye stain and landed on the floor. I had to wear those stained clothes for the rest of the day.

  33. I was so embarassed after playing all the wrong piano notes in a duet in church when I was 10 years old. We couldn't get the right notes for the second half of the song. When we tried to play it again, because it took a long time to pass the collection plates, we butchered it again. But my strongest memory my grandfather comes from his gracious words after church that day. I am not sure what he said, but I have a warm fuzzy memory of his encouragement and smile despite our musical struggles. What a gracious musical man!

  35. A customer came over to discuss the benefits and details involved with becoming a CTMH consultant. Her husband was with her and expected me to have all the % charts memorized to tell him exactly how much she could make as a consultant. Had to explain that it takes a lot of hard work - and love for the product - to be able to earn a noticeable income from CTMH. I actually felt sorry for her, because he would not let her finish a thought or idea, he had to jump in to answer or ask question. And he was very disappointed that she would not immediately start earning $100's of dollars per month by being a consultant. My embarrassment was that I was attempting to be truthful and realistic with them, but they were looking for a "quick rich" scheme.

  36. Some of MY biggest "flubs" come from the mouth of my 3 year old preschooler. She is always very curious when she sees a man/teenage boy with an earing. Being the little girl that she is, she is facinated with jewelrey and loves to comment when she see's anything beautiful and notices earrings all the time. In the past we have discussed ear piercings as something girls do and that it was kind of "crazy" or "silly" for a boy to have an earring. Of course, you can probably already imagine what is to come and still does everytime we see a man/boy with an earing, my daughter loudly exclaims, "look at that guy...he has an earring... that is so crazy...he is not a girl!" She usually doesn't stop talking about it until I acknowledge her. I guess the lesson here is, always be thoughtful of what you teach your children...once an idea is in their mind, it will never go away.

  37. I was in the cafeteria line holding my tray on a ledge near the cashier. I had two plates on my tray. One plate was full of salad with peppers, croutons, and Ranch dressing. The other plate was filled with cantaloupe and cottage cheese. Accidentally, I pushed the tray a bit forward and it got caught (I don't know how!) on the ledge and it fell down. I caught the tray, but not the plates! I had salad all over my jeans and the cottage cheese and cantaloupe made a mess on the floor. Even worse, the cottage cheese landed on the guy's backpack in front of me. Super embarrassing, but at least he was a good sport about it!

  40. Well I can't believe I am sharing but here goes, A few years ago my family and I decided to hit the local super store for a dinner party that night. We finally decided to order some sliced roast beef from the deli counter. With all 3 lil ones in tow, we waited in a line that seemed like forever when we finally got to the front and leaned over the counter to try the sample we were handed, when my youngest(3ish)decided to lift my catholic girl school skirt up in the air to fully expose my whole back side to the extensively long line behind us!! And of all the days, I had to also be wearing the younger generation's undie fashions. I quickly flipped around just to glimpse everyone laughing and the snickers!! Which I then proceeded to laugh, too but,Oh my, they couldn't slice our order fast enough for me to get out of there!

  41. Oh I love to read everyone's stories to see none of us ever literally died of embarrassment!I've never told this story, but I'll share it here since you can't see me!

I went to a customer's house to do a gathering with all new gals. I always pick up a coffee on the way to gatherings I have to drive more than 20 minutes to get to. I guess I hadn't done my "girls can always go to the washroom before they leave" routine and had to desperately use the hostess's washroom about 20 minutes into the gathering.

I quickly sat down and heard this terrible crack.......OMG, I had broken the toilet seat. What the heck was I going to do....should I tell her in front of all of these new, potential customers or pretend like it didn't happen? Maybe no one heard the crack or would notice.

Well, I decided the right thing to do, despite I was sure I would die of embarrassment...was to tell the Hostess. Thankfully this 'event' did not seem to effect my $500+ sales.

Needless to say, I don't pick up a coffee on the way to gatherings anymore!

  42. One summer I participated in a study abroad program. The dorms that we were staying in did not have showers on all the floors, some had only tubs. My floor was one without a showe. One morning during the week I went to the showers one level below me. There was no one else there when I got there so I locked the door. I shower pretty fast but it was not fast enough to avoid the line growing outside the door. When I left there were 5 girls waiting in line to use the shower, I had locked them all out of access to the second shower in the room with me. I fels so bad about it at the time. It is one of those incidents that I still revisit in my head now and again and still feel embarassed.

I was certaintly humiliated and had to go to the car covered in dressing. Oh well looking back I can see it was not a big deal!

  45. There I was, a newly wed gal at a beach party with our friends. Hubby put the boat in the water, told me to drive the truck and trailer over and park it. Who, me??? I managed to find the softest sand and got the boat trailer stuck, right there in front of the whole crowd. I was mortified, but at least there were enough guys to help get it unstuck!

  46. When my name was called to receive my diploma at my college graduation I walked up and enthusiastically accepted the document. As I started to walk off the stage the heal of my shoe got stuck in an area where the stage comes together and I started to trip and fall. Just before hitting the ground I regained my composure and stood up. Looking out at a sea of people the only thing I could do was raise my diploma in the air and pump my fists in celebration. Of course, my brother, who was in the audience took several pictures capturing the trip and recovery. I should find them and scrapbook the moment.

  47. An embarrassing moment for me happened when I sent a message to a fellow teacher on our office communicator...
I meant to send "Hello!", but I accidentally missed the "o", so the message sent was "Hell"...not so terrible, until I later learned the teacher had her laptop hooked up to the projector, and the message popped up on the big screen in front of her whole Middle School class! ooops!!

  48. When I was very little, probably about five, during church one Sunday, I needed to go to the little girls room. Since my dad was a single dad, he sent me on my merry way. On my way back, the aisle looked soooo long and I got nervous, so I hurried to get back to my dad. As soon as I spotted his leg from the aisle, I jumped up onto his lap. "My dad" stiffened and yelped. I spun around and to my horror it wasn't my dad. I hopped off as fast as could be. Luckily my dad was just in the next pew and he grabbed me. I don't think I went to the bathroom during church again until I was in middle school.

And I'd like to say I learned my lesson, but recently when we were at a store, I thought my husband was still right next to me. I wanted to draw his attention and show his something, so I reached out and grabbed "my husband's" hand and said "Sweetie, look at this." And yep, you guessed it. Not my husband. Luckily, everyone thought it was funny.

  49. I went with our choir director to get breakfast for our youth choir between church services recently. Coming back into the building, I caught my foot on the outer door and tripped, falling into an inner door. Bag of food in one hand and full cup of orange juice in the other - the oj went EVERYWHERE. I ended up on the floor in a big puddle of oj. It was in my hair, my clothes, everywhere! I had to mop myself off with paper towels the best I could while some friends mopped the door and fllor, and then get through the second service. (oh, yes, I'm the organist & there wasn't time to go home and change!) Thank heavens I could take off my jacket and put on a choir robe, but my hair was stiff and I was starting to smell like fermented oranges by the time I could get home to take a shower!

  50. My husband gets so frustrated with me because I don't pay attention to my gas guage. After 14 years he's learned to check it for me. But, I was doing a gathering, which came to a close and I usually try to be the last to leave because I like to spend alone time with my hostess, and a guest came in and asked me to move my car so she could leave. No problem, went outside and it turned out I had a few people blocked in. Guess what.. out of gas! It wouldn't even start! And get this!! The gathering was right down the street from my house! But, my husband was at work and I couldn't get a hold of my dad. My cousin, who also lived in the neighborhood went and got gas for me while the guests waited for a good 20 min. Whoops!

  51. I live in the high desert of California where it is not uncommon for us to have a lot of heavy winds. One sunday morning as the kids and I were unloading the car to attend church, one of my younger kids dropped my purse (which doubles as my diaper bag) on the sidewalk and the contents spilled and started blowing all over the place. While struggling to keep my skirt from blowing up over my head, I started scrambling to grab things before they were blown long gone. A couple of Young Men came over to help catch things with me and to my horror I realized that there were lot of girlie supplies flying around too. Yes, they were grasping at tampons and pads and it was a pretty hysterical sight for my kids and others who were watching. I'm not even sure if these boys really knew what they were catching as they started handing me the "wrapped-in-pink" goods (and my poor pre-teen daughter sitting in the front seat of the car, she was blushing as much as I was and did not want to get out of the car to have to face these boys ever again)!

I reached in my bag and pulled out what I thought was a pen....but Oh My Word... it was a tampon!!! He took it and pretended to write with it which actually made it better for me. We laughed for about an hour!!!

  53. Just this past Tuesday as I was in the middle of teaching a writing class that I teach through Community Ed, I reached out and grabbed my water bottle for a drink. As I lifted it to my mouth to drink, the ice I had in the bottle shifted and I ended up pouring water all over myself right in front of my class! They started laughing, I started laughing and we laughed our way through the question and answer time of the class! I remained wet throughout the remainder of the class time!

  54. My very first job in high school was as a cashier at a local hardware store. During my first week, I was left alone at the counter for a few minutes while the person training me checked on something. I leaned back on the counter with my hands behind me over the counter's inside edge and felt something like a button. Nothing happened, so I didn't worry about it. A minute later, two police cars tore into the parking lot with lights and sirens. Turns out I had hit the silent burgler alarm!

  56. There are so many things I could tell you about, but the one that stands out for me is this: I was very shy when I was younger, but when I attended college I was asked to represent an all male class in our winter carnival beauty pageant. I'm no beauty queen, but was flattered so I went waaayyy out of my comfort zone and agreed to do it. We practiced a dance routine, which I didn't quite master, but still forged ahead. I was determined to not let the class down by quitting, even though that is what I really wanted to do. The night of the pageant, my name was drawn to be first at the microphone introducing myself. I walked up the the mic, rattled off my name and the class I was representing, then down the "cat walk" I went. No, I didn't fall, but on the way back I noticed someone helping the next girl with the microphone....it was turned off, so no one heard a word that I had said! I wanted to crawl under the stage...I felt very embarrassed. I wasn't chosen as a finalist (based on my public speaking I'm sure!!)

  57. I have really enjoyed reading all of our moments. I have thought of several times I could share but deciced on 1 from my earlier days. I worked at a nursing home in thereapy & volunteered each year to take residents to and from the Easter Seals Camp. It was a good 4hour drive in the big handicap van. This particular trip we were coming home, always a much sadder trip for the residents so usually very quiet & I can just put the petal down & get home. I always made sure everyone used the restroom right before we loaded. As often happens in the summer time, there was highway construction. One gentleman in a wheelchair & had use of only 1 side from a previous stroke was with us & we were heading home when he said he needed to use the bathroom again. The rest stop was clsoed because of construction so had to get to the next one a few miles down the road but this rest stop was at the top of a BIG hill & had to park down below. So I had to push him UP this hill (good thing it was when I was young & in better shape, don't know if I could do it today) Any way we get to the top & he needs to sit down, not just use the urinal & he can't transfer by himself. A gentleman comes out of the mens restroom & I ask if anyone else is in there. He checked & said no. So in we go. I have my resident abouthalf way between his wheelchair & the toliet when a man walks in, looks at me then back at the door. I told him I would be done in just a minute & be out of there but he didn't wait. He walked over to the urinal & proceded to take care of his business. I was in my early 20's & was so embarassed. I waited outside for my resident to finish & went back in when the coast was clear to help him back in the wheelchair. That has been close to 30 years ago but remember how embarassed I was like it was yeaterday. Thanks for the memories. karen

  58. These are all too funny...

During our Senior year in high school, DH & I (yes, we're high school sweethearts) had gone out to Lake Texana State Park to meet up with some friends. They weren't at the campsite. So, we got on their bikes and started off looking for them. DH & I are going one direction, and some other guy is coming towards us. Well, towards ME. I swerve one way; the guy swerves same way. I swerve back the other way; he swerves the same way again. I swerve BACK the other way...and he does too and we COLLIDE!! I fell so hard on the asphalt as did the other guy. My DH was laughing SOOOO hard, he literally ran off the road into the trees. Even when he finally got out of the trees to come "check" on me...he was STILL laughing...he STILL laughs about that to this day. Luckily I wasn't seriously hurt, but, the "dangle sanddollar ring" my grandmother gave me ended up with no "dangling sand dollar" (It was a James Avery. My mom was FURIOUS about that. Made us get a metal detector out there the next day to try to find it...never did. SHhh...I think I hear DH laughing again...

In sixth grade I fell up the stairs going into the cafeteria. As fate would have it, I was wearing a dress and my underwear had a hole in it! YIKES! I was so embarrassed I thought I would die, but laughed along with everyone else!

I survived and my fifth grade class thought it was cool that I would share something so embarassing!

Just as I was making my move, I swept my hand out and accidently knocked my water glass over. Water went everywhere, and I turned bright red. Needless to say, this cured any desire I had to learn how to flirt!

  62. Thanks Everyone for great stories. I had a CTMH moment that popped into my head, but must say some of your stories have me going "oh yeah" because I have something similar in my background - not going to admit to which ones. My CTMH moment was at my first home gathering. I had prepared and practiced the card we were going to make -it wasn't too difficult - a little stamping and a little gluing. Well, all of my carefully cut B&T papers were nowhere to be found, so I flustered and looked through my supplies about 3 times. Then I came up with the best solution I could think of - I passed the sample card around again, asking them to note the size and placement of the two paper layers they needed, sent around my sample ring of current B&T papers, asked each to pick two they liked (and maybe their neighbor did too) - they each completed their card, got a close look at our paper choices, talked to their neighbor a little and had a good time. But, I had to go back through my supplies at least two more times to make sure I couldn't find my precut papers! Now I would laugh it off, but at my first Gathering I felt like I couldn't handle it!

I turned around to find my roommate and two of the cutest boys I knew standing in my living room. I was horrified! I tried to laugh it off but I tend to snort when I laugh, which I did this time and it just made it all worse. Thus, I ran back to my room and hid until I was certain they had all left. Needless to say I have curbed the need to belch aloud and now make sure I'm thoroughly alone before I let even the smallest of burps escape.

We were asked to speak at a LARGE forum of prospective adoptive parents. We went as a family, as I really wanted to to show these couples that you really can create your family though adoption...well, I prepared a beautiful talk (really I did) and was really excited about sharing our experience. As I looked out to over 200 couples, I tried to start our story and fell apart crying! My poor husband just looked at me SHOCKED and ad-libbed something. It was Horrible! I did pull it together enough to tell them all how looking out into that sea of expectant and anxious faces, that it just brought all that emotion back, and how thankful I am to have my beautiful family.

  65. I have TWO that I will NEVER forget!!!

17 years ago (in aug) my now husband, then boyfriend landed a new job as a head football coach...He was really nervous for his first game...I came all the way up from so. Utah to cheer his team (the Bulldogs) on to victory. I sat at the top of the bleachers with his parents knowing NOBODY...when a super exciting play happened and out of my mouth came "Go BullFROGS!!" (hey i was a 911 dispatcher for BULLFROG, Ut o/o Kane Co.)MUCH to my HORROR many MANY parents heard me...and one turned around and asked "so which coach do you belong to?" arg! lol...that parent has since become a great friend, worked in the kitchen at our reception wedding and my hubby has coached/taught all of her kids :) LOL...

    NEXT...

Before my children came along I enjoyed working part time as a waitress in a local restaurant during the summer. Because of the Temple location and Manti Pageant we managed to stay quite busy...one late afternoon a big family group came in..grandparents, parents and children...around 15+ people...(i loved waiting on the bigger tables) anyway..as I was passing out the drinks (which I had on two trays) as I came to the last 3-4 drinks on the tray I leaned in to give a drink to the person on my right with the tray in my left hand when the tray TIPPED and RED punch went all over GRANDMA in a WHITE blouse!!! OMGOSH!!! I felt soooo horrible! I wanted to CRY!!! I ran fast to get towels...offered to go my a new shirt at a clothing store down the street...her husband laughed and asked me what my most embarrassing moment was...I told him I was living it...which made him laugh harder..the grandma was sooo sweet and told me she looked good in red...the ended up with free dessert on me and I ended up with a HUGE tip! After that I started putting the drink trays on holders. LOL... :)

  67. Many years ago my husband went out to dinner prior to going to the movies. As it turned out, we were late arriving at the movie theatre. When we arrived, the movie, Robin Hood, had started. The scene was a dark one and it was hard to find a seat. I was half way following my husband, and half way watching the movie. I walked into a row and saw him sitting there (he was ahead of me). Well, you know how you "kind of" snuggle up to your hubby...maybe even putting your hand on his thigh... Well, I started snuggling up and then turned to my right and IT WAS NOT MY HUSBAND, but another man...with a woman (his wife perhaps) sitting right next to him!!! I gasped...I mean I REALLY GASPED!!! I jumped up and saw my husband several rowls ahead. Wouldn't you know, he asked me where I had been! OMG!!! I just wonder what "that man" thought of me...walking into a mostly empty theatre and sitting right next to him. When the movie was over, I looked around and there were maybe 5 or 6 people in the whole theatre. I was so embarrassed!! I told my husband I would never go back to that theatre again...and I didn't!

  68. If you have kids then you have numerous embarrasing moments. I was so thrilled just to get out and be with my friend even if it was at McDonald's. We were sitting at a booth with her baby son and mine which at that time I think they were both around 6 months old plus I had my almost 3 year old son also. Of course he had to go to the rest room right when we received our food and sat down so I told him to go on ahead. He was very good about handling things on his own. My mistake in ever thinking that I could be so lucky. We were sitting there chatting and the next thing I see and Oh Yes Hear is my son running from the bathroom with his pants around his ankles yelling "Mommy come wipe my butt". I have never turned so red and laughed so hard in my entire life. Of course we both looked at each other and claimed that we had no idea who that child was cause he definitely wasn't mine. Oh, what a hysterical time and yes I did finally acknowledge that he was my son.

The boys were playing chicken where they would try to get each other off the bars and the girls were just crossing the monkey bars the way they were intended. 71. Try to keep it short. In my 20's I lived in DC & got to walk to work. One very bright and sunny day, I was feeling particularly happy with the way I looked and I pulled on my sunglasses and struted down the street. My feeling was confirmed by all of the people checking me out as they passed. And they didn't even know that I knew they were looking at me because I had my sunglasses on. As I was walking, I thought to my self "MAN, it's bright out today". Because I thought I looked so good, before I walked into work, I stopped to check out my reflection in the window. Sure enough, I found out why everyone was checking me out:
I was missing one of the lenses to my sunglasses! I never laughed so hard. To this day, I poke at my sunglass lenses to make sure they are both there.- fancyMelissa

I used to make every piece of clothing I wore. This stopped immediately after his fun adventure. I had made a swim suit. It was quite lovely. I wore it to the beach on a date with my future husband. The "family" was in the water when a large wave hit me. The stitching cut lose and the entire one piece suit rolled to my waist. Not batting an eye and trying to cover the exposed vital parts, I jumped with the wave and turned away from the shore line. Only....I didn't realize that my future Father in Law was floating the waves right behind me! He got a broad smile on his face, waved and said...."My future daughter."

We laughted about this years....It was the last piece of clothing I ever made.... :o)

So here I am showing them what to do and one of the ladies says 'Wow, I am not sure I want to use that if it is going to smoke like that.' Mind you, this desk was about 10 feet away and I could have just spoken loudly to get the roll of quarters I needed. Instead, wanting to be the good new employee, I picked up the phone at my station. I pushed what I thought was the right combination of buttons to reach the desk and proceeded to ask for the quarters. The gal at the desk, who was also my new boss, asked, "Where are you?" Meaning which phone intercom was I coming through on since she was hearing an odd echo. I replied, "I don't know, where am I?" Suddenly, she was demanding, "Hang up! Hang up!" It turns out that I had accidentally pushed all the right buttons to call every phone intercom in the entire building! I had been heard by the whole staff. A minute later, the president of the company came down wanting to know what in the world was going on. 83. Oh my gosh! I have been laughing! I am thinking of an incident that happened about 15 years ago. I was working in a kitchen where we made our own ranch dressing. We would make it in a pitcher and put in the fridge to thicken up so we could pour it into container to serve.

On this particular day I was wearing shorts and I opened up the fridge to take out the dressing to prep when it fell OUT of the fridge and landed straight up on the floor--at my feet! Well, when the ranch hit the floor it came back up to cover the insides of my legs--both front and back!

So here I am standing with my feet apart and my hands in the air covered with ranch dressing. I had to have my co-worker clean me up because I couldn't do it myself. I was so embarrased! Then to top it off she had to take me home to change (as I didn't have a car and it was a busy night) and she wouldn't let me sit on her seat. I had to bring towels with me to sit on! To top it off, I don't like ranch or the smell of ranch. From then on after when we made ranch, we made sure to put it further on the shelf so that it wouldn't do that again!

  86. My DH and I still laugh about this every time we hear the song "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)"
We only had one car at the time, and I had to take him to work very early every morning. As we pulled up in the parking lot, that song started playing on the radio. I said, "It's been a long time since I heard this song"
Being a "Morning Person", I got out of the car, to get into the drivers seat, and started to dance. Dancing the way you would with your husband, if you didn't think anyone was watching you. lol He said,"You better watch out. That man and his dog are watching you". I didn't believe him, and continued to dance.
I had not noticed the RV parked in the parking lot. As he and his dog walked past us, he said, "Your having a good morning".
When I went to work that day, the radio station played that same song later in the day. I told my co-workers about what had happened and we all had a good laugh.
That Christmas, my Secret Santa gave me all the mixin's to make Pina Colada's.
I think that song puts a smile on everyone's face that knows my story.

We had dinner at a local Thai place that we both love. In the center of the restaurant there's a giant "endless" stream and most of the tables are positioned around it. Well, I set my purse on one of the ledges near the water not realizing that the ledge itself was full of water as well. As we were getting ready to leave I set my purse in my lap to fish out a stick of gum and ended up drenching myself making it appear as though I had had an "accident". FABULOUS! What can you do other than smile and laugh it off?! We ended up having a wonderful time regardless and have been together ever since. Sometimes you just can't sweat the small stuff. :)

When I turned around they both laughed...I had my dress tucked in my underwear! SOOOOOO embarrassing!! What a first impression...she'll never forget it!

  91. I was at work, brand new job, and the others I worked with decided to all go outside and sit on the concrete steps, as it was a beautiful day outside. As I started to sit down on the steps, I slipped and fell on my knee on the steps. I was so embarassed and quickly got up and assured everybody that I was just fine, even though my knee really hurt. The next day, I had to call in sick because my knee was so bad that I could not walk on it. It took months to heal up! The lesson I learned was not to pretend that everything is fine when it's not - LOL.

  92. This happened a couple of years ago. I was walking to a bus to get ready for my 1st half marathon. I was with a few experienced runner friends, so I was kind of nervous. It was 5:30 am and dark and I was walking on the parking strip when all of a sudden I just dropped into an irrigation water man hole. I went all the way down to my waist, drenched. They had to pull me out. I was so embarrassed! I did run and finish the race with my wet shoes. We still laugh about it even today.

  93. My biggest oops was way back in 7th grade...I was about to be confirmed into the church and felt I had nothing to wear for this special ceremony, so I raided my older sister's closet and snuck one of her favorite dresses to wear. I figured if I changed into it right as we were leaving for church, there would be no time for her to protest and make me change. I managed to hide it pretty well under a coat and we went on our merry way to church. I sat proudly in the front row, waiting to be called up for the ceremony. As my name was called, I removed my coat, looked at my sister to see her disapproving glare and bounced to the front of the church, with my back to the perisioners. I did notice a lot of quiet chatter behind me, but didn't think too much of it. After the ceremony I was horrified to find out (no doubt from my sister), that I had forgotten to zip up the back of the dress and had stood up front for all to see (more than they had cared to). I guess "someone" was trying to teach me a very valuable lesson that day, which was duly noted.

  94. This is fun! Reading all of these "flubs" is quite entertaining and has got me thinking of so many times I made a fool out of myself! It's good to laugh at ourselves. The very first year I became a preschool teacher-I hadn't known my co-worker for very long-I broke out in song, very loudly with the kids (I am a terrible singer!) She walked in the room and here I am belting out a silly preschool song loud and bad - we still laugh about it 5 years later!

  95. Oh mine was my very first show. I had it all planned out, my items cut and packaged, my bag carefully packed. I arrived early, introductions went well and everyone settled in for me to instruct them on making the card. I realized I had left the stamp set home - Aaaaagh! I did have a hostess set with me and quickly switched gears to make the birthday set work with the autumn colors I had chosen for the demonstration. After the cards were complete, I confessed my switch to the gathering. They thought it was funny but it helped me book shows because they all wanted that hostess set. I found out later than at least two of my "customers" were my UL's customers and they reported back that I did a good job - if I hadn't told them of the goof, they said they would not have realized it.

  96. The first job I ever applied for was at Baskins Robbins when I was a junior in high school. Upon receiving the uniform, we (the trainees) were instructed to change into them. I used the bathroom, and before I flushed, my cloth visor fell into the toilet. I knew they didn't have any extras, so I just had to complete the training with a wet visor. Luckily, no one asked why I washed my visor...

  97. I believe it was 2004, my last to graduates Sr year. The entire community turned out to watch one of the final basketball games of the season, not to see our team but to see a player for the other team. Kendal Perkins now a player for I believe the Celtics was about to go pro was the area hype - while "watching" the game I was hit on the "side" of the head with a basketball ! I was fine just a little shocked by where the ball could have come from. But the game stopped for the officials to check and make sure I was OK ! lol I didn't learn, I still visit at sporting events.

  98. I never lit anything on fire, but I did have one big goof at a gathering. It was a brand new group of ladies, 15 of them. We were making a card and a tag. As I'm setting up, I take out all my goodies: pre-cut pieces--check, stamps--check, inks--check...card bases...card bases...no card bases. How in the world do you make cards without card bases? I was mortified, but the hostess came to my rescue with a stack of 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock. We all had a good laugh and (thankfully) they became some of my best customers.

  100. Land sakes, I make everything I do such a goofey story. With my personality it's easy. But one I can think back on I was young.... fourth grade.. So you have to know my sister and I are both able to curl our tongues much into a straw type shape (important to know for the story). So I had on my special new white flowing dress my mother had bought for me for the special event... and in our church the wine/grape juice is served in tiny little thimble type cups...so I had my little glass of juice and as the minister said to drink...yes you guessed it, I curled my tongue in a straw and slurpped up the juice. Well most of it, a good portion of it stained my new beautiful dress and my mother was right beside me burning holes in me with her eyes. I was embarassed but God Bless my Mother she has to be totally flushed.

  101. My most embarrassing moment happened 39 years ago. We lived in the country. It was a winter day, and the roads were icy. I was driving home from high school, and the school bus was right behind me. I turned into our long driveway that had a steep ditch on each side of it. I slid right off the end of the driveway and into the ditch, right in front of the school bus that I used to ride!

  103. When I was 18 I was took my car in for an oil change. I started to pull into one of the bays, but then the worker gestured for me to come into a different one. I was flustered and thought I had gotten a good angle on pulling into the new bay, but I was SO off and I scraped the whole passenger side of my car. I started bawling instantly and with shame had to get out and tell them I was there for an oil change. When my car was ready to go they handed me my bill AND a card for an auto body shop they recommended.

  105. It was on our honeymoon and I actually got into the wrong car (that looked like ours) with some other guy sitting in the driver's deat. Pretty embassing!!! Now, I double check and wait to make sure my husband is getting in the car, when we have a rental car!!!

  106. I am a junior high teacher...

After being absent for a few days with a stomach bug from eating in our school cafeteria (yuck!) I thought it was safe to come back to school. Boy was I wrong! Right in the middle of a lesson on how to format dialogue, I let out an SBD...A silent-but-deadly fart. Oh wow it was bad. I could see the looks on the kids faces as the smell started to circulate. The pained looks on their faces let me know that it was worse than I had originally thought. One of my boys raised his hand and asked me, "Was that you, Mrs. P?" I had tears in my eyes (partially from the stink, but more so for the fact that I was mortified and I wanted to run and hide) when I responded, "Uh-huh. I'm sorry. Shall we go read out in the courtyard for a bit until my stink subsides?" My students quickly picked up their AR books and ran for the door. To this day, I don't think I've ever seen my class so eagar to read!

  107. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!! I read some of these before bed the other night & went to bed with the giggles.
My most embarrassing CTMH moment was when I planned a card project using the Vintage Postcard as shown in the Idea Book. Unfortunately I didn't prepare it ahead of time & realized when we got ready to do it that I didn't have a block big enough. We ended up using a cutting board. Good thing my girls are easy to please, and they are careful now to check & make sure they have the right sized block for the stamp sets they order. Jenni above me - you should win a prize.

  108. In times of high stress, I tend to sleepwalk. Thankfully it seems to be leveling out a bit, but in college during exams, it was always dicey where I'd wake up. After finding myself in the commons area of our dorm one morning, my roommate and I began barricading the door at night. No harm was done, and *thankfully* I was wearing full pajamas. But oh my - the embarrassment!

  109. Seeing the new Zippidee Paper Packet reminds me of the first time my family and I went to Walt Disney World. I was 11 on this trip and to this day remember this feeling so well. We had just exited a ride and I was feeling dizzy. I hugged my father's waist and told him that I was not feeling well. I looked up at him to realize the man I was hugging was not my daddy. How embarrassing. The man was very kind to help me find my father one person in front of us.

  110. I have had a bad experience with fuel lately!! I left my car gas cap off and the door open when I went through the car wash and than proceeded to drive down the road for 15 minutes before hearing the clanging on the side of the van. Than about a week later I was filling up with fuel and let about 3 gallons run on the ground :( I need to stay more focused when fueling!!

  111. When I was 8, I got lost at Disneyland. My father took me and we went to Tom Sawyer's Island. I was running around in a cave and decided to double back to sneak up behind him and scare him.

I ended up losing him, running to the raft landing and crying. And he found me because I couldn't leave without an adult and I learned then the importance of staying with an adult at Disneyland, LOL.

  112. Geez, so many flubbs to choose from...well the most recent was when I went to do a gathering for my friend 1/2 hour away. I arrived one hour early so we sat & visited before I began to set up. As I was getting ready to put the projects out for each guest, I realized I forgot an entire bag of stuff in my office! With party time in 30 minutes, I called my hubby who came to the rescue. He met me 1/2 way with our 3 kids and my goodies in tow. I made it back & set up just in time. My hostess & friend thought it was extremely funny, thank goodness.

  113. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL WAS OVER...it had been a long week teaching the program for 50 children...I had four of my neighbors' children plus my four. Or so I thought...got everyone in the van and pulled in the driveway and said "Where's Donny?" "Oh, Mom he didn't get in the van, I think he was still inside!" Yikes! Drove the 10 minutes back and there was my little 5 year old sitting on the sidewalk. He said, "Don't worry Mom, I knew you'd come back for me." What a way to find out the enormity of faith and trust your child has in you.

  114. I've made the HORRIBLE mistake of asking someone when they were due. I even patted her tummy! I hadn't seen her in a while and to my embarrassment she told me that she wasn't pregnant...just put on some weight. There's NO backing out of that one. UGH!

We both turn around and left immediately thinking we accidentally walked into the men's bathroom. But we didn't. The man was using the ladies bathroom. We felt embarrassed for ourselves and for him.

  117. I think my story would have to be when I was going to surprise my husband with some "eye candy" when he came home from work (pre-children of course) and I'm sitting on the couch waiting for him and he walks in wide-eyed and in comes...a friend right behind him! That friend still gives me grief and needless to say, my husband always calls before he brings someone along with him and it's been eight years now. LOL

  118. I am a receptionist for a small company of 10 employees. One day when I took a call, I thought it was my co-workers spouse, so when I told her her husband was on the phone, she answered "Hi Sweety". Well, needless to say, it was not her husband and I was very embarrassed, but not nearly as embarrassed as she was. That has not happened again. I can't wait to see the new products in the Summer Idea Book.

  119. lol, I am having trouble narrowing to one story. I think I will stick with this one. I am a nurse in a small hospital in a rural environment, which means that when I gave birth, I had to be cared for by friends and coworkers. I distinctly remember my mother telling me to keep my gown on (I am small, it was one size fits all ) and I would throw it off as I had another contraction. In the middle of this, my boss walked in with a new employee and there I was, stark naked in hard labour yelling for someone to please get her out of the room. I never was able to make eye contact with her after that and was grateful when she moved on. Talk about embarassing!

  120. I was walking to my office, I was working as a computer programmer for Texas A&M University waiting for my husband to graduate. It was raining - storming actually and I grabbed a plastic bag to put over my hair. I had a umbrella and a raincoat on so off I went. The building was very tall and a whirlwind swirled around it. My umbrella turned inside out, the plastic bag went over my face, and my raincoat - along with my dress went up over my head... As I fought all these things, and regained my dignity I looked around to see if anyone had seen me. No one was around.
However, the tall building was almost all glass... I walked into my office to a round of applause.

  121. I would have to say my most embarrassing moment was one time when I went to church and realized that I had put on one navy blue shoe and one black shoe because I had the same style shoe in both colors but when I looked down and realized what I had done I was so embarrassed and wanted to hide my feet throughout the rest of church and hoped that no one else noticed or looked at my feet during our other meetings.

  122. I have a brother 2 years older than me. So we were in the same high school for a couple of the years. Well I am very short and was nicknamed "Little Spike" by my brothers friend who called my brother Spike. So that was embarrassing enough what happened one day in the hall at school was the ultimate embarrassment. I was walking to a classroom when all of a sudden 2 guys came up from behind and picked me straight up like I was walking in the air!!! I was devastated!!! I'm many years past high school but that is as fresh in my mind as the day it happened.

  124. I have to say my most embarrassing memory was back on high school. My dad was my band teacher, and one day during class, the entire percussion section was in hysterics and kept telling him to "XYZ". He didn't get it, until finally someone had mercy and told him that meant to "Examine your zipper!" Oh, I was so embarrassed! It was so uncool to have my dad as a teacher, but even more when he did stuff like that! : )

  125. I thinkthe most embarrassing thing that has ever actually happened was one day in church when my son was 2. He has the most beutiful dimples when he smiles and I would tell him that all the time. He had a habit of singing when he was born and during the middle of the message, in a singsong voice, he said VERY loudly (the whole church heard), My mommy thinks I have the most beautifu nipples in the world. Pastor had to stop the sermon for almost ten minutes while everyone laughed.

  126. I think the most embarrassing story is when I used to trip up the stairs in my high school. I went up the same set of stairs every single day, and almost everyday I would trip on them. Eventually, I just expected to trip and I no longer let it bother me that people kept staring. I learned to not let other people's reactions affect mine.

  127. I've asked the two most embarassing questions: 1)when are you due? - no, she wasn't pregnant and 2) are you here watching your grandchild - no, he was there for his child. Oops on both. No need to even try to dig myself out. The learning experience is to keep my mouth shut. What does the Bible say about the tongue? It's so true! from, shecop@charter.net
