Color Me Monday: Dynamite for Dad!

I am head over heels for today’s color combination! It’s so rich and luxurious, yet it’s also bold and masculine and it looks good on EVERY project you try it on! Start with a healthy dose of Cocoa, and add generous amounts of Twilight and Garden Green, then sprinkle in just enough Smoky Plum to give it spark. I love it! The deep brown Cocoa gives your project substance and weight, but the punch of purple adds personality.

The combination is ideal for dad-related items, and with Father’s Day just a few weeks away, I thought I’d help you get inspired. Note that I’ve added stitching and ribbon on most of my projects—sometimes these are thought of as feminine accents, but by fraying the ribbon edges or choosing “chunky” materials, they play great for dads.

My favorite of the bunch is the desk calendar, which any dad would be proud to display—each 6x6 square is the perfect size to add a photo of dad with the family or to have kids write a special note to their father. Whatever project you choose, whatever color combination you choose, remember that special man in your life with a remembrance that tells him he’s dynamite to you!

  2. Jeanette, I think i am head over heels as well! Oh my, i think i am melting.

Is this all just made from plain cardstock? I fancy the the the 6x6 calendar! I am newer, so i wish there were a recipe for some of these items.

I am glad to see you use the "Happy Holidays" stamp set. I got them in my kit last month and thought i would never have much of a use for them. Thank you for sharing! I love the color choices!
