Counting My Blessings

I love to count my blessings—and they are many! I am blessed with a wonderful husband, children I am proud of, grandchildren I adore, good friends, great colleagues, my health, my citizenship in a noble nation, my belief in God, and leading a company that brings joy and opportunity every day of my life. I am truly grateful!

So, let’s hear from you! As Thanksgiving approaches, what is ONE thing you are particularly, profoundly grateful for right now? To help sweeten the (pumpkin) pie, I’ll even add a contest element: comment on this post and you’ll be automatically entered to win YOUR favorite stamp set from the Autumn/Winter 2010 Idea Book. I’ll choose 10 winners at random on November 24th, just before Thanksgiving... giving you one more thing to be grateful for!

And if you’re wondering, my favorite stamp set this Idea Book is a tie—I love both of the stamp sets featured on page 11, in support of our beautiful “Magnifique” paper collection. “Circle of Love” is dramatic and trendy, and the peacock feathers and flourishes dress up just about any artwork; but I also love the “Unity” set, which conveys so many of my favorite sentiments about family and togetherness. If you win the contest you can choose one of these as your prize or another of the more than 100 stamp sets in the Idea Book. Can’t wait to hear from you!

  3. Sometimes I get frustrated in the little space that is my home. I look around and wish, and dream, and hope for something bigger one day....for that I AM grateful!!! My HOME is where I have moved into with my husband. My 800 square foot home is where both of my beautiful children were born and are being raised. I am lucky to have a home!! My home is not only the roof over my head, but the heart of my family...My home. It brings warmth and kindness, love and laughter. For that I am grateful!

  5. Today I am incredibly grateful that my father has survived another bout of pneumonia and is home from the hospital and living with us once again. And for a 7-year old daughter who takes everything in stride. During a sad moment last week, she sweetly reminded me that "even though we will miss Poppa if he doesn't come home from the hospital, we will be happy for him because he'll be with Jesus and Nana in heaven". How thankful I am that she reminds me that what is most important is not here & now, but eternal.

  6. Today I have been continually reminded of how grateful I am for my devoted husband. He works so hard and takes such good care of us. Some days I am overcome with emotion when I think of our energetic and happy children who have brought such joy into our lives. We are so blessed!

  7. I'm profoundly grateful for mercy. My son recently made a serious mistake that could have resulted in a penalty that would have life-long implications. He had mercy extended to him and was given the opportunity to get back on the right path. It has been a blessing to see him recognize what he did wrong and take the steps to make it right.

  10. I am thankful for the simple things in our lives that bring us joy and that we seem to take for granted. When I think back to the stories my Grandma use to tell about her childhood...like walking miles to school, not having running water, etc. Just all the things that seem to be overlooked by many in these modern days. So, thank you to our ancestors for discovering all our simple pleasures.
Thank you for allowing me to leave my comment.

  11. I am grateful for a husband that:
    works tirelessly; is a hottie;
is the smartest person I know; seems to love me even though I don't deserve it; works hard at everything he does; is good at everything he does; provides for our family over and above what we need; is my best friend.

And even though I'm grateful for my husband, i recognize that the LORD gave him to me!

  18. I am so thankful that I have a loving heavenly Father. The past three years have brought tremendous changes to our family, many of which could have been devistating. We have seen God bring us through these trials step-by-step. It has been a great blessing to see his hand in our lives!

  19. I am thankful for my husband and children, they keep me going, especially when we have such crazy lives with work, school, and extra-curricular activities. My husband and I work odd hours so that one of us is always home with our children, but the tiredness factor takes a toll on us. But we are reminded especially in this Thanksgiving season, that we are blessed and are thankful for each other!

  21. I am profoundly grateful for the wonderful, loving, supportive man I married 11 years and 1 month ago! Not only has he been my best friend for the past 16 years, he has been by my side through some emotional times, happy times, sad times & blessed times at the births of our two sons. He works very hard, and unfortunately at times some very long late hours, but he does all of this without complaint because he didn't back down on the promise he made all those years ago to my dad to take care of me, provide for me and our family, when he asked for my dad's approval to ask me to marry him. And then 7 1/2 years ago when I struggled with the decision to continue working or become a stay at home mom with our first son. He was right there supporting my decision to stay home.

We live 1300 miles from all of our family, because we had to follow our dreams and at least try the opportunity that presented itself 5 years ago to move to Montana. We love it here and I have made some wonderful friends through scrapbooking. Which again my hubby was supportive of me when I made the decision in May to sign up to be a Consultant. He loves me and supports me and I couldn't ask for a better man!

Sorry this is kind of long, but I just get a little gabby when I'm talking about my guy! Thank you Jeanette for your post and the chance to win!

  23. I am grateful for God's provisions! My husband lost his job a month ago, and we've come on some very hard times. But as we've continued to seek God and trust in Him that He has a plan, He has constantly provided for every need that has come up! Financially, this will be the hardest holiday season we've had. But we are learning that the holidays are not about the things money can buy--they're about the invaluable things--love, family and friends.

  24. Only ONE thing? I have so very much to be thankful for. Tonight I had a wonderful spur of the moment dinner with all 4 of my kids, their spouses, grand-daughter and my good friend (who is like a sister)and her son. She just lost her husband a few short weeks ago. It was very very sad...Boy do I count my blessings. I am so blessed to have loving friends and family in my life. They support me and give me purpose amd joy. Life is good.

  45. I am thankful for my health. I know several ladies in town, younger than me, that are battling cancer. One passed away a few days ago. For much of my life, I have taken my body and health for granted and not treated it as I should, but I am working to change that.

May you remember and count all the small, insignificant blessings, as well as the large, easily visible, blessings this Thanksgiving and every day.

  46. God blessed me beyond belief 27 years ago when my husband and I were married. He is my best friend and a joy to my days. The most amazing aspect of his devotion to me though is that he has been my rock and support through almost 10 years of my being disabled by a spinal cord injury AND multiple sclerosis. He takes care of me and lets me be free to do what I can and want to do!

  67. It's funny, I was just thinking about how blessed I am right now as I was working on cards for a Christmas Card workshop I'm having tomorrow night. I jumped on the computer to look something up and saw this post. At the end of August, when I realized that I would no longer be teaching, I was at a loss. I am so thankful for my life and the fact that I've been given the opportunity to work on my craft business full-time. I am so thankful for the support and love of my husband, my family, and my friends. I am truly blessed.

He is in the Army Reserves, so when he is not working his civilian job as a truck driver, he is working as a mechanic for the military. As I am writing this he is preparing for deployment to Afgahnistan for a civilian company. His main goal in going oversees it to make sure that our family is taken care of, including the grown children, grandchildren and those of us still at home. He is a rock and I can ALWAYS count on him!

  94. Where oh where do I begin? By the standards in our society, many would say our family doesn't have much. However, I would say we have MUCH to be thankful for that is beyond what money can buy. Our home is filled with the laughter of children from morning to night. My husband and I love each other and enjoy spending time together. We don't need anything as all our needs are met. Most importantly, we have a personal relationship with the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. If that is all we had, that alone would be more than enough to be thankful.

As for my favorite stamp set from the current idea book, it is Everlasting Life. It was the first one that I purchased from this new idea book. I love that it can be used for so many occasions beyond Christmas. It was wonderful to find such a beautiful Scripture stamp set in this idea book!

With the economy the way it is and the storms sent to us by ways out of our control, we are able to cling to the fact that we have each other through the worst times we have encountered in our entire relationship.

So I'm thankful that I have my husband beside me through thick and thin!

  110. I have to say that I am grateful for my family. We were fortunate to be able to move literally right next to my parents this past summer and are now only 2 1/2 hours from my husband's mom (as compared to being 8 hours away from all of them). My kids will get to grow up with the opportunity to see and learn from their grandparents every day. Now we are able to spend time with them more often than just during the holidays.

  112. This season I am feeling espeically thankful that I found CTMH. It has given me the opportunity to do what I have wanted to do for a long time: stay home to be a full time mom to my children! Even though I work my business. because it is MY business, I can work around my family instead of fitting my family in around my work. I am so thankful each and every day that I wake up and can mother my children and be relaxed and calm with them, and send them off to their day with love in their hearts and thoughts fo mommy waiting for them to come home. It means the world to me to be able to stay home with them. I am SO thankful for that.

That I am blessed with a wonderful, loving husband that I love so much and that we have beautiful, healthy children (so far no colds this season and Lord willing it will stay that way). Thankful for the best mother and father-in-law. Thankful for wonderful friends, our cute little home, that it's snowing outside right now as I write this. So thankful for Close to My Heart, being an Independent Consultant and getting to scrapbook, make cards and all kinds of fun creations! I am so thankful for so many things year round but love this time of year that we take time to truly reflect on the things that matter most! And my favorite stamp sets are Old World Alphabet-( I already have it), & Snow Days,Snow Flurries and Many Thanks.

Lately it seems as if cancer is knocking on so many doors and God wakes me in the middle of the night to pray for them. I know one day I will be on the receiving end of the prayers so may I be faithful now to love others by praying. God bless all of you.

  140. I am thankful for my 5 year old son's school's cafeteria workers. He has a life threatening peanut allergy and requires epipens. Last week in the morning rush of getting all the kids out the door for school, I accidently packed him the wrong Lunchable...it had a peanut candy in it. The cafeteria worker noticed the candy and immediately took him and the candy to the school nurse. The package was unopened! He didn't eat any of it. The workers there are always looking out for him. I felt terrible knowing that I hadn't paid close attention to the childrens lunches. God knew what happened...and He continued to protect my son throughout the day. So VERY thankful the cafeteria ladies and for an omnipotent God!!!

  178. As I sit here to write this comment I have just sat down for the day and finally have time to myself. There are so many times in the day when I wish I had more "Me" time. Then I realize why I am just sitting down. I have a wonderful Husband and two beautiful daughters who are 19 months and 4.5 months old who I was interacting with all night because I did not get to pick them up from daycare until after school let out. See I am also a teacher to 135 precious tweens/teens of other parents. So I may get frustrated at my 135 or my two but I am extremely blessed to be affecting the growth and maturity of 137 children this year and I need to remember that when I am frustrated, stressed, and exhausted. I hope and pray that I am making a difference in these kids. For some the hug, smile, or words of praise I give will be the only one they recieve that day.

As we gather we will prepare a care package for him with homemade cards, his favorite foods, the children have already prepared their drawn pictures and other items that he can share with his squadron. He will get a little piece of home. All thou he will not be able to be with us during the holidays he will know that we are so proud of not only his accompolishments but his daily sacrifices he makes to help keep this great nation safe. We are looking forward to March 2011 when he returns to his 3 young children and this wonderful family will be reunited again.
