So Many Reasons to Celebrate!

Every year, we hold a company-wide holiday party for all employees of Close To My Heart, and this year was no exception. However, we wanted to try something a little different—something that allowed employees to interact as teams while also eliminating the evening drive and need to secure babysitters that a night-time party can bring. This year, our events department did an amazing job (they always do) in transforming our training room into a winter wonderland festooned with snowflakes, glittering garland and twinkling lights.

Throughout the day, each team from manufacturing to purchasing to accounting to marketing arrived for some serious merry-making—at the door, each employee received their choice of a fabulous dipple apple. And these are no ordinary apples; we’re talking caramel, white chocolate, nuts, cookie chunks, fudgy goodness...yum! We also catered in delicious goodies from a local bakery (I’m partial to the key lime tartlets!). Everyone had plenty of time to laugh, talk, visit, and WIN! We held drawings for all kinds of gift cards—great restaurants, bookstores, clothing retailers, and more. There was plenty of jolly-ness to go around.

Along with the executive team, I was lucky enough to be there throughout the entire afternoon. Because each group was small, it made the event intimate and gave me a singular opportunity to say thank you to just about every employee in the company. A number of times, I felt my throat close with gratitude for these good, loyal, smart people who design stamp sets. Who ship products. Who balance the books. Who answer the phones. Each one is so different, and yet each employee is so important. I thank you all. We have so many reasons to celebrate this year...and I’m looking forward to a new year with even more reasons to celebrate!

  2. Oh My Goodness, Jeanette - you are so good to the people in your company - it's so inspiring! I wish some (all) of the greedy business owners in the world could see how successful and happy a business can be. You are a role model - this is what every company should be like. Our world would be a much better place.

    Hugs!
