One of my favorite parts of Convention was the question and answer session. We covered all kinds of topics, from my favorite color in the Close To My Heart color palette to whether I prefer "Dancing with the Stars" or "American Idol." (EASY! Go, Scotty McCreery!) Some answers were serious and introspective; others, I just found myself giggling through the answer.
But perhaps you weren't at Convention and didn't get to ask your question. Or perhaps you've had new questions crop up since then. Or perhaps you've had a burning question you've harbored forever and would love to know something about me, or business, or Close To My Heart, or papercrafting and you've never had the courage to act. Well, now is the time! And I've even got a little extra incentive for you, because I do love hearing from you and learning what you want to know most.

ReplyDeleteI love using sketches to be inspired and be able to make my scrapbook pages and even cards. We have a Library of these types of books that guide us in planning pages or cards. What I would like to know, if you would consider using or making another book, that has both cardmaking templates, and layouts with super new techniques, and that are actually made by us the consultants? Like taking a few sketches from consultants, maybe making like a contest of some sort, and putting also your own sketches?

Why haven't you made your paper and stamps available to be purchased digitally by customers who create digital scrapbooks, such as Stampin up and Creative Memories do. As nice as your Studio J program is, I along with others find it too restrictive in being truly self expressive. I prefer simple scrapbook pages with emphasis on the story behind the pictures. Your papers are really beautiful but sadly I use them only to make cards. I have all of your books and as inspirational as they are, the pages are at times just too busy.

ReplyDeleteHave you ever thought about making some sort of inventory feature that you could use to enter all the images from the sets you own, so when you want to make a layout with a certain image in it, you could type in "presents" for example, and all of the sets you own with any sort of present in it would come up for you to choose the perfect one? How do you get a smooth surface when you heat emboss. Do you hold the heat gun farther away and get a slow melt or close and quick. Sometimes mine looks grainy. I am a beginner at this beautiful art and could use some tips to make it look better.

You give new consultants all kinds of encouragement and advice with Start with Heart, but what do you feel is the BEST advice to attracting people to hold a gathering or even getting your name out there through social media?
ReplyDeleteI love scrapping and creating and want each layout I do to tell a story about a moment, not just highlight people through our ages but tell a story about a loving memorable family moment we'd tell around the dining room table. Your papers, the artwork you select for the idea book are fabulous and inspire me every single time. With all the photos and stories you must have, how to you choose what do focus each time you sit down to create? Do you go in chronological order? Do you rescrap pictures you want to add more details/story to? Do you How do you keep from being overwhelmed by all the choices of things to scrap? Not the materials, but the moments. Do you scrap non-professional photos? I see a lot of them in the books but I wondered if you have an album that is just your family moments and stories where the photos are less than perfect.

Is there a common "base" to the colors of CTMH? For example, grey and mauve go together well because mauve is usually pink with some grey in it. The colors of CTMH go together so well, and not just within families. I only found about 5 combinations that don't work from between every single color. Is there a common "starting place" on which each particular shade is created?

I keep hearing from Top leaders of CTMH that they didn't see the point in owning a Cricut before because we didn't sell it or related products…
ReplyDeleteSince I've owned 2 in 5 years and used it for everything basic for my projects (from all those 2.25 x 2.25 mats all the way up to perfect circles of any size!) I found that so hard to believe!
So my question is NOT what you love about AP, but did you really not own a Cricut machine before we partnered with Cricut? and does Corp. now own hundreds to cut out all those awesome projects for our Make n Takes?!

How did you pick yourself up from a terrible time in your life and start on your journey to create CTMH, instead of wallowing in the sadness? ReplyDeleteI have noticed that some of the patterns from your how-to books show up a lot in the CTMH idea books, some are only featured occasionally, and some haven't been used for years. What is the thought process that goes into deciding what patterns to use in each idea book? Love all the questions, BTW, and it would be great to hear answers to them all eventually!

You have so many hidden talents(question part two) and what other talents do you have a flair for but have not shared with the rest of us? (besides your love for cooking and biking)

I understand they sometimes visit Mexico and that might be a doable location to jump in and help with. Wouldn't that be amazing? Count me in if it ever becoms a reality! ReplyDeleteHi Jeannette: I know you have been scrapbooking since you were a child and I wonder if you remember well those horrid photo albums with the glue pages and clear plastic overlay? We just "stuck" our pictures on the page and closed the plastic cover on each page....Well, my questions is.....

I have tried the heat gun...sticks them down more...I tried the freezer and lifting with the piercer and that works for some. But, the older photos with the not so good photo paper seem stuck forever...
Can you help, please?

I know there are more things I can be doing with my pages on Studio J (like double matting etc.) but I don't know how to do it. I have so many uncompleted scrapbook pages. I get started on a page and if I do not have time to finish I put it away and by the time I get it out I forgot what idea I had and I start a different page. Does this happen to you?

Do you have every one of your stamps that has been produced by your company? I am such a collector I would never be able to get rid of them. That is how I got started with close to my heart. I bought an old catalogue at an estate sale and fell in love with one of the stamps. I went to a convention and asked a close to my heart consultant about one of the old stamps and decided to sign up with your company.
