Becoming a People Magnet

Question: What do you feel is the BEST advice to attracting people to hold a Gathering or even getting your name out there through social media? --submitted by Annette Grzegorzewski, August 28, 5:17 pm

Answer: The truest answer is often the simplest: if you want to get your name out there, YOU have to get out there. And that will always mean getting out of your comfort zone. The strongest Close To My Heart businesses that I know are not grounded exclusively on Facebook, or Twitter or via e-mail or blogs. Great business can be enhanced through these media, but they are founded face to face, handshake to handshake, smile to smile while looking someone in the eye.

Attracting people starts by being the type of person you want to meet. Are you friendly? Courageous? Welcoming? Do your projects and classes look inviting, beautiful, and duplicatable? Are you excited about your business, because if you are, I guarantee it will show!

When I was first starting out, it took every bit of courage I had to talk to people about my products. What should I say? What would people think? Did I know what I was doing? The truth was, I was nervous about selling, but so excited about stamping, so I focused on that excitement. I set up tables at craft fairs while my two small children played at my feet underneath. I got out there and talked to people - to passersby, to neighbors, to friends, and family. I asked for their support, I believed they would share my enthusiasm, and whenever a setback occurred, I chose not to take it personally.

Throughout my journey, I've been motivated to share what I love because I TRULY believe it will make people happier - I believe they'll love the artwork they make, the extra money they earn, the friendships they form, and the free products they'll receive. Who doesn't want to share good news? If you focus on OTHERS and making them fulfilled and happy, I guarantee you'll be successful - and I'm not just talking about Close To My Heart here!

  4. I totally believe what Jeanette has to say because I also feel the same about CLose to My Heart products. I put myself out there as much as I can with Craft fairs, people at work or just a total stranger in Michaels or WalMart...I talk with enthusiasm and excitement about scrapbooking and card making and I hope the ppl I talk to see that..I love the product and this is why I am a Consultant to share my passion with others.
