A Pattern for Success!

Question: I have noticed that some of the patterns from your how-to books show up a lot in the CTMH idea books. Some are only featured occasionally, and some haven't been used for years. What is the thought process that goes into deciding what patterns to use in each idea book?

Answer: We literally have hundreds of patterns for cards and scrapbook layouts available in our how-to books, so the studio artist working on art for the idea book really has a large selection to choose from. Each artist gets to mix and match pattern choices based on the photos they have to work with, the technique they're trying to show, and how the artwork will be photographed.

It is a freeform process (hey, we're creative people!), but we do try to give good variety to the patterns we use. I'm glad you've noticed the pattern names throughout the idea book--we always use and cite patterns throughout the catalog so that readers will be inspired to make their own creations - and actually have the instructions to do it beautifully!
