Today’s artist broke some rules, but still created some unquestionably
beautiful finished products. Our Art Studio artist used the beautiful new
Stella paper pack to make today’s four beautiful cards. At first glance, you
may not realize, but the patterns she used are actually patterns from my scrapbooking how-to books! To create
these 6”x 6” cards, she simply shrunk the dimensions on the pattern down by
half – take a look!
This first card draws from a pattern found in Magic. In place of the large photo
called for in this pattern, a B&T paper and a few well-placed paper
butterflies serve as the visual focus of this card. (Did you spot the appearance of one of the B&T papers from the Elemental kit in this card? It blends in well, doesn't it?)
This pattern from Cherish
is also one that calls for a large focal photo. In this instance, the artist
has turned the photo space into background, using the spray pen to add interest,
and drawn the focus down to the large stamped flower and Happy Birthday
sentiment.
This card rotates a pattern from Imagine, again adding a large stamped sentiment, and this time
showing off some careful paper piecing. And how about that fabulous ribbon in
the top right corner? That ribbon was custom-made for this project by sponging and stamping on the
brand new Color Ready Seam-Binding Ribbon from the Spring / Summer 2012 Idea
Book!
And finally, a pattern from Reflections brings lovely layers to our last card. Not every pattern lends itself to this
kind of alteration, but you can see the rewards are high when you are willing
to try new things!

Fabulous idea's, and one that I will definitely be giving a try. Thanks again for the inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I would never have thought of using layout templates! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the how to books! I use them all of the time, and my customers love them as well. These cards are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get my idea book! My consultant is my sister's bestie and my "crack dealer" I mean crafting supplier. Danette said she thought of me when she saw this sassy, chic girlie-girl. I'm turning 50 in September and she will get me everything I need to create adorable invitations for my own Oprah-inspired birthday party. Get out the Tombow, this girl is getting ready to cut, stamp and create!
ReplyDeleteAll wonderful! TFS!
