It’s time for more spotlight artwork. This week’s artwork was sent in by Christine Adams, a Close To My Hear Consultant who lives in West Virginia. Christine’s submissions feature the Footloose paper pack and a variety of fun techniques. I think you’ll agree that her artwork does a wonderful job of expressing the fun, relaxing feeling that only summer can bring.
First I want to show you this beautiful card made using the Colonial White Die-Cut card for its base:
This technique-heavy card bears such a natural, laid-back look that it hides the effort that must have gone into it. First off, the beach chair and umbrella images from the Just Chillin’ stamp set (C1495) were both stamped in Cocoa once, and then stamped again on the B&T paper. After trimming out the images, Christine turned them over so the B&T pattern would show instead – isn’t that delightful? As for the distressing that brings life to this beach scene, Christine says she first sanded the edges with rough grit and then inked the edges with Desert Sand ink. It lends this card such a nice look, I love it.
Next up is a whole set of 3” x 3” cards:
Each of these adorable cards is cut using card bases and other shapes from the Art Philosophy cartridge. They are adorned with stamped images from the Under the Sea stamp set (C1500). You can see Christine’s expert paper piecing at work again here on the angelfish as well as the “You blow me away” card.
Last of all, I’ve selected this card that fits into the seaside theme, though it doesn’t feature any of the Footloose papers. What it does show off to great effect is the Quick Cards—Shell stamp (A1128). This single stamp image is brought to life again by the paper-piecing technique. A Desert Sand image is trimmed down and layered over the Cocoa image. All of it is gorgeously softened and lent blue highlights by touches from a blending pen.
Christine, I’m so glad you would share your beautiful artwork with me and let me put it in the spotlight. Please let me know which stamp set, album, or Workshop on the Go kit you want me to send and I’ll get it right out to you!
