Seeing Stars

Hello! Kristine here again, hi-jacking Jeanette’s blog (with her permission of course!) for a look at some fab, fresh artwork. Yes, the stars are going to be out this Halloween, and no, I’m not talking about celebrities or the weather—I’m talking about the wonderful My Creations Star from Close To My Heart! This beauty is a must-have for your décor, bringing dimension and appealing angles to all sorts of flat surfaces near you. One ideal use for this sturdy chipboard shape is as a light-weight seasonal door-hanger that you can hang without worrying about putting scuffs on your door. Take a look:

What, you expected a Christmas decoration? No way, Halloween is the next holiday and I think you’ll agree that this star makes a decoration you can be proud to show off to all those trick-or-treaters that will be coming to your door this year! This colorful star is covered in a handful of designs from the Moonlight paper pack and then adorned with a few sparkles flourishes and a perfectly complementing image from the Moonlight Complements Dimensional Elements. Here are a couple of other Halloween ideas for you:

For a little spookier look, try the textured paper from the Moonlight pack topped off with a few stamped spiders (from the All Hallows Eve set, C1462). As in the last example, a Dimensional Elements image makes a perfect, no-fuss title for your piece.

And because these colorful Dimensional Elements are so easy to work with, here’s another idea you can achieve. Just cut your papers, select your desired banner images to make a Halloween banner. Covering the points of the star is a cinch using these printable templates from the Close To My Heart web site. You can choose to cut the paper to cover both sides of a single point of the star, or you can cut them singly as in this harvest example:

See what a difference that can make? I just know you creative crafters are starting to come up with all kinds of different ways to decorate these stars for any holiday or event coming up on your calendar. Well keep those wheels turning!

I know that this last one is not a star, but it does meet our criteria of being a lightweight, easy-to-decorate chipboard décor piece you can hang on a door or wall to add a little color, dimension, and fun to your home. This will be just perfect on my son’s bedroom door, but it would also look great with a family picture or a favorite quote inside.
