Spotlight on Art: What a Little Moonlight Can Do

The leaves in the mountains are changing, the October days are getting gradually more brisk, pumpkins are popping out in the patch down the street—autumn is well underway! The year is getting closer to the end as we begin ramping up for the biggest holidays of the year, starting in just a few short weeks with Halloween! You’ve no doubt been gathering Halloween ideas for weeks already, including the stars Kristine shared last week, but I just have to share a few more fabulous décor pieces that came out of the Art Studio. All three use the beautiful Moonlight paper from the Autumn / Winter 2012 Idea Book.

If you already have the Cricut Artiste cartridge, you’ve no doubt noticed that the bottom row is holiday central. Two Halloween keys and one Thanksgiving key, providing 42 shapes that are ideally suited for decorating your home this season. These pumpkins are on the Thanksgiving key. You cut the notched shapes out of your favorite papers and then slide them together to get these dimensional beauties, which will look great on a mantel, bookshelf, table, or wherever you need a little splash of the harvest season. You can cut the leaf topper using the same key. Try a variety of sizes and paper patterns!

I love this My Creations bracket frame that Kristine highlighted last week. Here’s a more Halloween themed example of how you can dress that frame up. The foundry binder clips and Baker’s Twine combination gives this particular wall-hanging added appeal.

Another great décor piece you’ll find in the Idea Book is this gorgeous wood Display Tray. It has been a big hit, and it’s easy to see why: there are so many ways you can use it! I love the collaged look of this particular hanging. Pictures, Moonlight Dimensional Elements and papers, stamped images, Cricut shapes, Tulle ribbon, and more come together for a gorgeous final product. Each window is given just the right level of detail and attention and each is sure to bring a smile to your face.
