I love to kick off summer with a beach picnic! It is so fun to bring an umbrella and chairs to the beach along with a cooler full of goodies. I really enjoy the fresh salt air and warm sand between my toes.
ReplyDeleteI love to gather with new friends and old around a campfire by Lake Superior, toast marshmallows and enjoy seeing the stars until late at night.
ReplyDeleteI really love to have a picnic with foil packs and other goodies!!! Thanks!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteBarbecue is the only way to go here in Texas. Nothing taste better than some good barbecue and don't forget all the trimmings... Corn on the cob, potato salad, coleslaw, pinto beans and iced tea.
ReplyDeleteWe often like to do a family reunion camping weekend--great fun for everyone and no one has to break the bank!
ReplyDeleteNothing beats a bon fire on the farm with the ones closet to me. Cool drinks, fire roasted hot dogs, and gooey smores, along with many laughs and sharing memories thats what makes summers so special here in Northeast Ohio.
ReplyDeleteCamping is our family summer fun! We take our camper out, have a big campfire, BBQ, cole slaw, corn on the cob, fresh fruit salad and smore's. We bike, fish and play yard games as well as board games. Many memories are made each summer!
ReplyDeleteSummer isn't summer without berry picking expeditions under the sun. The sweet smell of summer wildflowers, the hum of bees and the plunk of berries in the bucket, talking loudly to keep the bears away!
ReplyDeleteOur backyard is so special to me, with our trees, deck and picture rock (where all visitors must pose when they first visit - it's become a tradition). So my favorite party is a backyard barbeque. It doesn't matter if the entree is burgers, ribs, or chicken, all that really matters is laughing, talking, lounging and eating in the backyard.
ReplyDeleteWe love to picnic at State Parks near the Finger Lakes in NY! We sit by the lake, hike by the waterfalls, cookout, and swim :0) Good times to be with family, and everyone gets along! I have a fantastic family!
ReplyDeleteI like to spend my summer motorcycle riding with my husband and friends. As well as back yard barbques with friend and family.
ReplyDeleteWe kick off summer and end of school by hosting a pool party for all the kids in the neighborhood. It's so much fun to watch the kids enjoying the beautiful weather and relaxing after a year of hard work. It's the best way to reward my kids for a job well done. Everyone looks forward to it.
ReplyDeleteAround our house it is not considered summer until you can smell the food in the air from the grill. You know, when you are doing whatever and all of the sudden you smell something that smells so good and you say "wow, someone is cooking out!" That is the best smell! Our family loves to kick back and have a nice grilled meal, homemade ice cream and then later build a fire in the fire pit and make s'mores! Happy Summer!!
ReplyDeleteWe kick off summer with a back yard BBQ. This year we got to also celebrate summer with our youngest daughter engagement announcement! Gayle
ReplyDeleteMy family loves to have a picnic get together with any of the family members that can make it. We have a scavenger hunt where we buy inexpensive toys, glowsticks, crazy straws, etc. and hide them. Then the children get a list to find their prizes and we take pictures while they are searching. Fun for all!
ReplyDeleteMy family loves those spontaneous get togethers. Someone in our family at the last minute will suggest having a few friends over for a fire around our picnic area. Everyone enjoys the laughter, fun, awesome smores, along with other goodies around the firepit. It ends with many memories intact for everyone.
ReplyDeleteI am soooo excited for summer this year...we just got our kayaks and I cannot wait to get a group of our friends together to pack a picnic lunch and go kayaking through the 1000 Islands (Cocoa Beach, FL). Great times with friends and beautiful scenery and wildlife! What more can you ask for (imagine the pictures to scrapbook too!!!)
ReplyDeleteSince we live on an island, we'll be heading to the beach as much as possible. My husband and I will also scuba dive a lot I hope.
ReplyDeleteMy family loves to go swimming together in the summertime.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win those awesome stamps!
For the past three years, we have been working on our back yard and deck and although the yard won't be done until the end of July or so, the deck is finally done and looks fantastic! Shortly after we got most of it done and started building a brick wall, my husband was called into the hospital for a heart transplant so everything was put on hold. The next year was one of constant illness on his part as his weakened immune system fought off all sorts of bugs, incuding one he caught while we were at Convention in Dallas as well as a bout of salmonella he caught from the wrapping on our Thanksgiving turkey! He is finally over all of his illnesses and we are planning a huge family BBQ for later this summer once my yard is finished! I can hardly wait!
ReplyDeleteI love to have family and friends over for a good barbecue. We have already had one, even though it was a bit rainy. The food was great and the time spent with everyone even better!
ReplyDeletelove to have people over for a Michigan favorite: Koegel hotdogs on the grill!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way to party in the summer is with my family in the backyards of our houses. We live close together so it makes it easy and fun. Fire up the grill and pull up a chair!Love those stamps sets!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a cousins reunion each year back at the old homestead where my grandmother
ReplyDeletewas from in Kansas. The relatives are spread all across the country, but its the one time of year that we can all get together, play cards, having a picnic, hay rides and horseback riding. Fun times!
Our favourite thing to do in the summer is to camp in our yard and have bon fires. Fun on the farm!
ReplyDeletemy mom lives on a lake in NC. My family and my sister's family meet there for July 4th celebrations. We drive around the neighborhood on decorated golf carts, lawn mowers, and other "homemade floats". Then we cook burgers and dogs on the grill, swim, and play with sparklers and light sticks.
ReplyDeleteI love to have dinner with my family outside - grilled food, cool drinks and lots of fun. Breakfast outside with my hubby, just the two of us on weekends is nice, too.
ReplyDeleteOur family loves to camp as much as we can during the summer. Sit around campfires, grill and enjoy the beautiful outdoors as much as we can.
ReplyDeleteI like to start the summer by attending the outdoor concerts at the park near my home. The first is always followed by Fireworks which I can see from my house.
ReplyDeleteOur family gets together once every several years for a big family reunion. Half the family lives in Texas, and the other half lives in Illinois, so we usually pick a spot half-way like Branson. It is so fun to see families as they grow up!
ReplyDeleteThis summer I plan on kicking off the kids summer vacation with a water fight. Inviting some kids over and having squirt guns, sprinkler and even thinking of making the kids car wash they have on Pintrest. Gonna dig into my stash to make goodie bags for the kids
ReplyDeleteSummer time is our most favorite time to spend with family and friends. This year happens to be the year we celebrate with three sets of families from 3 different states. We meet at the Tennessee River. (TN, OH, & IN)
ReplyDeleteWe will be on the lake tubing, water skiing, and swimming most of the time with the kiddo's. Most of us camp out at the Camp Grounds 2 nights and have a Marshmallow Roast. This year there will be at least 28 of us together. The ladies will get to go up to the cabin and scrapbook our adventures a few nights before we all have to pack up and go home. I am excited; this will be the first year in several that we get to see some of the family members. We have ages from 2 to 60 attending.
Thanks for the opportunity to win these stamps. Love my CTMH!
My husband and I love to BBQ some fish or chicken after a long day out going garage saling. It's always a great day when I find someone who thought they wanted to be a crafter dump all of their supplies for next to nothing. I have found even CTMH stamp sets for only $2 a packet! I feel like I am stealing, but it is all going to a good home. LOL Then my 2 best friends come over and we stamp outside under the covered area. It's always a treat to get new things evey summer. tfs Tami
ReplyDeleteI've been a scrapbooker for years and just started dabbling in cardmaking. I'm really enjoying my CTMH stamp sets i have so far :)
ReplyDeleteWe love to have everyone over for a BBQ and pool party! The more, the merrier! We just love all the summer foods too! Yummy!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe best summer party is when my kids are all here and we get to celebrate the occasion together!!
ReplyDeleteWe, I say we lightly because it is my wonderful grill master hubby, not really me ;o) that starts up our grill/smoker with a barbecue!! Now when I say barbecue, I've learned the Montana translation of that is grilling burgers & hot dogs, no offense meant towards Montana, because we have lived up here for 7 years & it is beautiful. But for my hubby and me, Oklahoma natives, when we say Barbecue, we mean smoking a brisket, hot links & bologna all day covered in BBQ sauce and then served up with my potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans & of course sweet iced tea!! Yummy!!
ReplyDeleteMy father in law was up here for a visit Memorial Day Weekend and we did that very meal, so we have officially kicked off summer already! But there will be many more of those meals with other family members & friends to come!
Thursday family dinner party at our house every week. It's a great way to make sure that college age kids eat at home at least once a week with their busy schedules.
ReplyDeletesummer is all about camping and marshmallows, nuff said LOL
ReplyDeleteps.....i wanna win!
Our favourite way to celebrate is definitely with family over for a huge barbq! Chicken, steaks, shrimp, and lots of salads and deviled eggs with angel food cake and strawberries are the perfect summer time meal. Can't wait for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteSummertime - when the spirit is free.
ReplyDeleteI kick off summer with an end of school year luau for my daughters class. This will be our 3rd annual Luau.
ReplyDeleteJune 23, 2013 will be the first full moon of the summer. On that day, my best friend, her family, and my family will gather at her house and celebrate the entire day, continuing through the rise of the moon. Good company and good food and always an extra special surprise like making homemade ice cream to kick off the summer. We have made this an annual tradition and we celebrate summer on the first full moon after June 21, no matter which day it falls on. Hooray for summer!

Meats are on the grill, marshmallows are being roasting over the fire pit, and loved ones are relaxing and laughing long into the night; all of these add up to a great and memorable evening for everyone! It's a great way to kick start the summer vibes!
ReplyDeleteWe love to grill outdoors and have picnics on the beach
ReplyDelete~ love summertime!
Sitting in the hot tub with cool drink and friend watching the sun go down.
ReplyDeletenothin' better than a good ol' backyard bbq/cookout. Everybody brings a side dish/dessert and we throw some burgers, hotdogs and sometimes chicken on the grill. All the little ones bring their bikes/trikes and ride up and down the driveway. Generally everyone stays long enough that the evening sprinkler system comes on to water our lawn and the kids love to jump in that. Aw... Sweet Summer Time!

Any time I'm with my family, especially my grandbaby, is an instant party! Sometimes we go out to eat, sometimes we just sit around and play and visit, but time with family is my favorite party of all.
ReplyDeleteWe love to sit beside the pool, have a few drinks, and talk into the night.
ReplyDeleteEvery other year we (the oldest generation now) have a Wiese Cousins Reunion". These are all the decendents from my mother's parents. We take turns among the family groups as to who is hosting and who plans, where when and what we will eat. 2013 it is my sisters and me who are hosting, so some great ideas would be fun to make!
ReplyDeleteMY favorite way to party with my family is at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch in Colorado in a vacation cabin and around a campfire having s'mores.

ReplyDeleteWe buy a big bushel of steamed crabs and boil ears of corn at my parents' house. We spend hours picking MD crabs with Old Bay seasoning and eating corn on the cob with Diet Coke...YUM! Others drink beer but I don't drink.
ReplyDeleteCelebrate summer with a trip to VABeach.....but.....movingvthis summer so I will invite friends to the lake housevwecare moving in to. Woo hoo.

ReplyDeleteI love a good ol' scrapbooking party any day with friends and lots of food. But I also love the two family reunions we have each year. I get to catch up with family members that I don't see on a regular basis, and of course everyone brings some really awesome food.
ReplyDeleteI.leave.Oregon.every.summer.to.visit,relatives.in.Minnesota.and.North.Dakota.We.have.a.ball.

ReplyDeleteDriving to Utah for our annual summer family reunion is my favorite way to start the Summer...a week-long party that includes my parents, their 6 kids (and spouses) and 24 grand-kids...nothing is more fun to me than this loud yet "familiar" crowd :)
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky that school gets out around the 20th of May every year here in TN. We are able to start celebrating summer early with Memorial Day, plus my son's birthday is on the 25th! We love to entertain friends, family and neighbors! There's nothing better than enjoying life's blessings with people you love! And a great barbecue ;)

ReplyDeleteOur family is spread all over the US and also Italy. My mom and I live in SD, one sister in FL, one sister in NE, and a brother who retired from the Air Force and now lives in Italy. 2 years ago, we knew my brother and my niece were coming to visit, and we thought how great it would be if all of us could be there. Almost magically, BOTH of my sisters made it up, and we celebrated my mom's 70th birthday early. It was the first time in over 30 years that all 4 of us had been at the family home at the same time. I remember going for Chinese food with all of us and my uncle, but the fun and the good had nothing to do with how we did it, we were so happy we were all together.
ReplyDeleteSummer is my least favorite season (I live for snow)But summer months at our families condo in Snowshoe WV is so beautiful. You can actually enjoy the summer heat on top of the mountains! We always enjoy our time together! But the snow is so much better!!! Just Saying!!
ReplyDeleteWe love to introduce friends to our "Island Paradise," Prince Edward Island, Canada. When friends or family come to the Island for the first time, we take them for a swim or a ramble on the beach, depending on the tide, then return to the cottage for a surf-n-turf feast: lobster, fresh off the boat, and locally grown beef tenderloin on the grill. The evening usually ends with some Cow's ice cream and some traditional tunes on the guitar and fiddle. We love summer on the Island!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way to spend a summer afternoon/evening is barbequing in our backyard with my husband and our dog. We relax and talk about any little thing that comes to mind, we laugh at simple things and we just enjoy our time together. When the food is ready we eat on the patio and watch the sunset. I love summer evenings at home with my husband!
ReplyDeleteMy kick off to summer since 2009 is going to Convention. It is a time for my CTMH family to go on vacation and have a reunion with old friends from years past and met new friends. Sometime we go to the pool like in Dallas, another time we went to the beach and checked out the BIG iron man in Washington DC. This year will be the best ever because we received twilight pass to one of the 4 parks in Disney World (Thank You Jeanette). I look forward every year to convention and it just gets better and better each year. This year we added two new family members to the trip.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite summer party or get-together are our camping trips. We usually canoe all day, camp on a sandbar in the middle of the river with delicious food, and then paddle some more the next day. It's so much fun and relaxing!
ReplyDeleteOur family loves to go to my parent's & swim in their pond! We jump off the Tarzan rope, take the paddleboat for a spin & float in the sun.
ReplyDeleteWe love to celebrate summer at the boat, on Lake Huron with my in-laws. The kids will play in the sand all day and then go to the pool later. We will BBQ and then play some cards. No computer, no television, no phone, no electronics, just relaxation! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteWe kick off our summer with Sweet Tea and a BBQ. Perfect combination for the summertime in South Louisiana.
ReplyDeleteSummer starts for us with a campout with the grandchildren. We cookout, swim, have a treasure hunt & of course we do a craft or mini album to save all our fun memories.

We have great family time as and lots of laughs....and of coarse I have to have pics every step of the way!
ReplyDeleteCanada Day on July 1st is always a day of special celebrations. We spend it with family and friends by Lake Ontario enjoying the strawberry social at the local museum, watching new citizens become Canadians, and being entertained with music by the Burlington Teen Tour Band. We have a picnic and return in the evening for the best part - fireworks accompanied by a symphony orchestra playing the 1812orchestra. It is a day we look forward to each year.
ReplyDeleteJust sitting on the back porch and listening to the birds and enjoying the warm sun and breeze. An I have to have a tall, cold iced tea in hand.
ReplyDeleteOur extended family's favorite thing is going to the cabin at the lake and hanging out there together for days!! It's so wonderful!! Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteMy friends come over swim, eat and play Pictionary or Craft. My favorite way to enjoy my family is to go to my sister's home in Florida and spend her birthday {JULY 5} eating DQ cake and playing with all my nieces and great nieces in the yard!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young, around 7/8 years old, my parents would take us up to Richardson Grove State Park, Northern California. We would leave at 4 a.m. in the morning because it was a 5 - 6 hours drive to get there and we need to get to Uureka by 9 am because if we got there later it was so hot - no AC back then. Once we got to the redwoods - the temperatures were much cooler. The Hwy runs thru the park. We would camp on the river side of the park and then we heard about huckleberry flats on the other side of the hwy so the first year we went and picked a small number of berries and my mom made us huckleberry pancakes. My parents had gotten this oven like device w/ a temperature control that would sit on top of the stone bar-b-que pit. Well the pancakes were so good, we had to have more, so back we would go and we get more for the next morning's pancakes but my mom, a wonderful cook knew we loved cobblers. She made a huckleberry cobbler that was out of this world. It smelled so good the neighbors in the next spot came over, had some and as a result of this encounter, the couple and my parents became life-long friends. In those days you could camp for 2 - 3 weeks in the same spot, so we mom made the cobbler several times a week. And the camp entertainment was a local Indian chief - Chief Eagle Wing and his oldest son - Red Turtle (he was so cute - early 20's) would tell stories, and do traditional Indian dances. We went there many times. What wonderful memories. My parents have since past away as did the couple they met many years earlier. But it was a very special time.
ReplyDeleteKarin Smith, Hillsboro Oregon, Part of the Stamping Rules team - see you shortly at convention.

ReplyDeleteWe love to get together with friends and family and go camping. There's nothing better than sitting by the fire cooking hot dogs and smores over the fire with family and friends!!
ReplyDeleteFor us nothing beats a backyard barbque with good friends and family. The best part is all conversations going at once with kids running and playing in the background. Those are the memories when my heart is the camera. Thanks for the wonderful contest.
ReplyDeleteWe live in the country with our closest neighbor half mile away so it is our backyard where family/friends gather each summer for a BBQ. We use our outdoor kitchen to full potential with grilling, baking, and cooking. While food is cooking, we have croquet game, horseshoes, and a washer game going. Lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteWe love to eat all meals out on the patio and my girls loving playing in their pool. Watching movies under the stars in another summer favourite.
ReplyDeleteSummer is my favorite season! No more cold!!! We like to kick off the fabulous season by getting our back yard in shape, the garden planted and going strong, then having our whole extended family over for a bbq/potluck. We have games for the kids and grownups to play and as it get dark the kids play flashlight tag and we roast marshmallows for s'mores! Can't get any better than that!
ReplyDeleteI love getting together with my 3 kids, spouses and 12 Grand babies. Papa grills, we sit around outside, the kids play (now that some are a little older they roam the creek that runs along the side of our house). When there are a lot of you in the family just having everyone together at the same time and same place is reason for celebration. I love watching my family all together - it truly blesses me!
ReplyDeleteWe love to celebrate summer by watching our 2 boys and many nephews play baseball! My daughter even enjoys going to cheering for her brothers along with both grandpas and grandmas. There is nothing better in the summer than baseball and stopping at DQ afterwards for an ice cream treat.
ReplyDeleteNicole W. ~ MN
Being from Upstate NY, you learn to pack a lot into the summer! It starts with our first cookout on Memorial Day weekend, which is also Mom's birthday, so we celebrate both! Other annual summer events include a 4th of July party with close friends; an annual trip to Darien Lake Theme Park with my daughter, her best friend and her mother (our girly weekend); The Great NY State Fair at the end of August and then it all ends with Camping in the Thousand Islands on Labor Day weekend! The kids return to school the Tuesday after Labor Day, so we do use every last minute available!
ReplyDeleteHomemade Strawberry Shortcake - that is our kickoff for summer. My family loves the shortcake baked from scratch, and fresh cream whipped with a little sugar and vanilla - doesn't get any better than that!
ReplyDeleteWe live out beside a lake. Our friends joke with us that we don't own an RV for camping, but we always tell them we just have to go outside to experience camping with our own firepit, and we get to sleep in our own beds at night. Our favorite way to spend time with friends each summer is to just invite them all over for a wiener roast. Very low key, and usually they share the load by bringing a food item, so potluck style. They also store folding chairs here so they don't have to haul them back and forth. All of our kids can swim in the lake, or skip rocks, catch grasshoppers, and make smores. Pure summer relaxation. It seems to be the best time to just sit and do nothing but enjoy our friends. We do it as often as we can throughout the summer, especially because our summer is so short here in northern BC, Canada. :)
ReplyDeleteMY favorite way to party with my family is in our backyard, we love summer grilling and splashing in the pool. I love family time, and Summer is a great time to gather together for fun!!!

ReplyDeleteWe spend lots of time with family in the summer - at the beach, backyard family BBQ's, or visiting a zoo. Between wedding anniversaries and birthday's we have lots of reason to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteWe have fun partying with our church family at a beautiful regional park five minutes away. We do this at least once a month throughout the summer. Everyone brings something to share and the kids all play together, sometimes with the dads too. We moms visit and catch up and laugh and hold babies. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love to invite the entire family to come over and swim and BBQ in the back yard. It is a great way to get together and beat the heat. We have hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon and cool salads. Then home made ice cream to top it off. As I write this, I am thinking we should get together more often!
ReplyDeleteWe like to have friends over and have a fire in our fire pit and roast hot dogs and make smores.
ReplyDeleteGrab your Hawaiian Shirts and Cowboy Boots because we're having a Hoe Down on the Farm! Every year since we were married in July 2010 we host a summer party with a live country band. Last year we did a Tex-Mex theme and this year it's Hawaiian. You should come party with us Jeanette...we have a blast!

We all bring outdoor games such as horseshoes, Bocci, Washer toss, Frisbees, or whatever else people want to bring to have fun. Thanks for a chance to win. :D Of course, I would make cool picnic themed invites with CTMH products.
ReplyDeleteI love to have a luau. It is fun to prepare all the finger foods like orange/pineapple chicken, veggies, fruit salad and homemade tropical punch. It makes for great pictures with all the colors in the garden, food, deco and clothes! I like to have a lei for everyone and tell them to dress in their favorite Hawaii clothes! A few years ago, we came up with the idea to have a family 'olympics'. Each summer, we divide everyone up into 3 teams and have our events. These include the horse race done on a pool noodle in a pool from one end to the other, relay fashion. Another favorite relay is the ball hop. We have 3 adult sized hippity hop balls that we bounce down a lawn and back. There are many more, and everybody laughs, and looks silly. I look forward to it every summer now!

My favourite kick off to summer is when 4-5 families totalling close to 25 people (of all ages) head off to the Kettle Prov. Park & we set up camp. Winding thru this park is a beautiful river which we float down. Everyone grabs whatever floating device they can find & off we go!! It is absolutely amazing to watch group after group jump into the river & away they go! We stop about halfways thru the float for a picnic lunch at a sandy beach. But during the float of course we take tons of pictures! Three of us moms can't wait to get home, so we can get out the pictures of our trip & start SCRAPPIN' of course.
ReplyDeleteThe fun we have is so addicting, that of course we go every year!!!
We love having cookouts with friends and family and then of course what would summer be without the fabulous wiener roasts around the fire pit finished off with roasting marshmallows and making smores? Ahhh sweet sweet summer time!!!

ReplyDeleteWe invite families who have no other family members nearby to come for a backyard picnic, play "washers" and "goofy golf", and end the day with making S'Mores and singing hootenanny-style with guitars and banjos. It's our "Summer Thanks-Living" party!
