Artbooking Made Easy: Love Mini Albums

Despite the cold here, we are sure feeling the love! Are you? 

In keeping with our love theme from last week, today’s Artbooking Made Easy features a few adorable mini albums that are all about love! These albums would be the perfect way to record not just pictures but also all of those little reasons why you love those you love.

Let’s first look at this awesome ombre-infused Love You mini album. I love those techniques that Kristine showed us for how to use the re-inker to create unique features on your pages.

The ombre technique is everywhere in this album! Although in some places the artist simply used the re-inking technique as a background accent to a photo, as you can see here, the ombre effect is still there—and in the little heart banner as well!

I love this “Work Hard, Play Hard” stamp. The artist stamped it directly onto the photo, but then also stamped it onto another paper that already had the ombre technique applied to it. Then she just cut out the words and attached them right over the original stamp, using a bit of foam tape to give the ends a lift and make it really stand out.

Don’t you love this heart overlay? Once again we see the ombre technique, but what I love is how the artist stitched little x’s over all the hearts. Is this what “crossing your heart” means? This little detail adds so much!

For more depth, try layering the same cutout. You can even layer the same shape in different colors. Another great thing about this album is that it features photos from the family’s annual trip to the beach, and so all the colors, details, and effects seem to echo images of the ocean. Those layered cutouts look like waves, and doesn’t that yellow ink spritz remind you of a sunset?

One of the best things about the Artbooking cartridge cutouts is that you can use so many of them in different ways. That heart banner is adorable by itself, but here you can see that the artist has taken the hearts that were cut out from the banner and paired them with aqua dots to make a cute border above the XOXO.

Here’s another great example of how to dress up an overlay. In the other album, we saw how the artist used the ombre technique and cute stitching to add flair to a simple background. In this album, the artist has cut out the overlay in two different colors and then made it so that just a few hearts pop out.
