Artbooking Made Easy: Easter Layouts

With spring on its way, what better time to put those Cricut® cartridges to use to give new life to your projects? I’m happy to announce today’s winner of a Cricut® Artbooking Collection: Kate Hall! Congratulations! Please send me an email with your mailing address to me@jeanettelynton.com with “Top Secret Winner” as the subject line.

There are so many wonderful things that come along with springtime—the refreshing weather, the joy of new life, and the celebration of Easter and all that it represents. Such a great, rejuvenating time of year! Today’s episode of Artbooking Made Easy takes a peek at the spring-themed keys on pages 62 and 63 of the Artbooking cartridge.

Let’s start off with the layout that uses these keys traditionally in an Easter-themed design. So many great inspirational ideas to try out in your own projects! First of all, I always like to see projects whose color schemes are taken from the photos themselves. The Honey cardstock and stamps match perfectly with that adorable yellow dress! Coordinating your color scheme with your photos really helps tie your layouts together.

This page shows off one of my favorite products: Liquid Glass. It’s such a simple, quick way to add a little extra shine to any element, and it is also a very useful product. You can use it as an adhesive to attach jewels or embellishments, or even use it to assemble 3-D objects cut from this or other Cricut® cartridges. To give cutouts a glossy finish, just apply the Liquid Glass to any surface. You can use as much or as little as you’d like, depending on if you just want a little bit of shine or a raised, epoxy-like finish.

Because the tip of the bottle is so fine, you could even use Liquid Glass to outline a shape, or you could use it to give certain embellishments a more realistic look—like on cutouts of eyeglasses or camera lenses, for example.

Be aware that Liquid Glass can sometimes change certain colors (especially reds), particularly if applied atop inked elements. You can see here how it has made the Hollyhock cardstock appear just a bit darker.

You can see what I mean about these keys being so versatile! In this card, the “happy” sentiment is paired with a few butterfly cutouts from the spring-themed pages, but they don’t have an over-the-top springtime feel here. I like how the artist has left the triangle cutouts open so you can see the Hollyhock cardstock underneath instead of the Daisy White.

I wouldn’t have thought that a layout could’ve made those chubby cheeks any cuter, but I was proven wrong! This is another good example of drawing inspiration for your color palette directly from your photos.

This layout also uses so many of the springtime-themed cutouts, to create a perfectly sweet little-girl layout. You can see the “happy” sentiment again, this time used with the individual letters from the Artbooking cartridge, cut in varying sizes.

I like using the overlays in a way that suits your projects. If you don’t think a certain overlay fits on your page, odds are that a few snips will fix that! Here the overlay was simply cut into strips and placed on either end of the pictures. Always feel free to customize your cutouts to best fit in your projects.

Are you ready for spring yet? Use these ideas to get a jump start on all your spring-themed projects!
