This week marks the official end of winter! When the weather
starts warming up, I know many of us take that as a sign to start planning our
summer getaways! With that in mind, today’s episode of Artbooking Made Easy is
all about the travel mini-album keys. These keys are found on pages 38 and 39
of the Artbooking booklet, so let’s take a look!
Such great projects! I love how versatile the Artbooking
cartridge is—from just two pages of keys, we saw three totally different looks.
Use your favorite colors, embellishments, and shapes to make your projects your
own! Let me show you some of the details to inspire you.
I really love the simplicity of this page. Using kraft
cardstock, the artist cut out the little geolocation icon and the airplane, and
then, using the scallop border punch, created a simple border with the White
Daisy and Goldrush cardstock. I love how the look of the scalloped borders
matches the shape of the clouds on the next page. Sometimes using simple shapes
ties things together nicely. If you have a favorite shape or cutout you’re
using, experiment to see what other shapes or borders might coordinate with it.
This overlay from page 39 of the booklet looks great sized
down for this card, but I especially love how the artist has decorated it with
a unique twist on baker’s twine! These little wheels are easy to create, and I
love the way they match the circles on the overlay, the border, and the
center of the flowers. And of course, baker’s twine is typically used for tying
bows or wrapping around paper, so I love seeing embellishments used in a way
you don’t see very often! All you need to create these wheels is some Liquid
Glass (or Glue Dots). Apply a circle of Liquid Glass to your paper, and then
take your baker’s twine, adhering the end to the center of the circle, and just
wrap your way around. Because the baker’s twine already has a twisted design,
wrapping it into wheels creates a great multi-dimensional look.
The other thing I want to point out on this card is the
flower cluster. The artist used several different colors and then cut out each
element individually, using 3-D foam tape to make them really stand out.
From the "Our Vacation" album, these washi tape ruffles are just too adorable! They add such a
fun element to these pages, and they’re so simple to make. Just put two pieces
of washi tape together (so that the adhesive sides stick together), fold to
create the pleat, and staple one side down along the edge. You can hide the
stapled side behind another piece of paper, or just leave it exposed—however
you’d like.
If you love the colors of your plain cardstock but want to
give it more visual interest, you can always use the same color of ink to stamp
backgrounds onto your solid-colored cardstock. The good thing about creating your own
patterned paper using stamps is that you control how it looks—you can stamp
several times to create a lot of contrast, or you can stamp it lightly to just
give a hint of a pattern.
Another thing I love about this page is how the artist used the "Just Be" title in her own way to create a new title! Use your imagination to see what new titles you can come up with.
What inspiring artwork! Feel free to adapt and adjust some
of these techniques to work for your own projects. I’d love to hear about what
you plan on creating with these ideas! But even more than that, because these
are the travel mini-album keys, after all, I would love to hear about your
dream vacation! Leave a comment here, on our Facebook page, or on YouTube, telling me about your dream vacation (it
could be one that you’ve already taken, one that you’re planning, or just one
you’d love to take) for a chance to win your own Artbooking cartridge! I will
announce the winner next Monday.

We would love to visit Hawaii sometime soon!
ReplyDeleteI would also love to visit Hawaii, but a trip around the world would be my dream vacation! TFS!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is to visit Italy both to see the "popular" sites but especially to drive to the town my grandfather left in 1922 at the age of 9. I am so proud of my hardworking family and the chances they took doing something new and unknown to make a "better life" for their descendants. Someday I want to stand there and whisper to my Pop that he did it and look how far we've come to live the blessed life we have now!
ReplyDeleteDream vacation means anywhere warm in the freezing cold of the Canadian winters. My favourite destination is Jamaica - my husband and I have been made official Jamadians since we have been 6 times!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to travel across the US! I'd love to see all the natural beauty this country has!
ReplyDeleteI would love to take my daughters to the west coast. My husband and I have never been either!! A good ol'fashioned road trip!!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation. There are so many. I would love to go to England and spend a week or two working on my family genealogy, but I would also love to spend winter on a nice, warm sandy beach surrounded by palm trees, with the ocean beckoning me to cool off every now and then. Where ever I end up, it will be most enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing. My dream vacation was beautiful Hawaii!!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is to take my family on a tour of the East Coast. To see all the historical landmarks, museums, and our country's capital would be incredible.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be to visit my sister in Nova Scotia, to meet all of the remaining family on my mother's side and to do the family albums as my sister inherited all the boxes of photos when our parents died and needs help to start.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be Disney land with no kids. Bad me.!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be somewhere warm near the water.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation has always been to visit Alaska whether on a cruise or by land.I think it's such a beautiful state and has so much to offer.I love wildlife and the cold too.Boy,I sure could take alot of pictures of the scenery there.
ReplyDeleteMy very long time dream is to go to Africa. Oh what a scrapbook that would make chalk full of wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be a trip to Antarctica. Yes, you read that right. I want to go to the bottom of the world. Some day....
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is for my entire family (my husband, son, parents, sister & her fam) to go to Disney World! I have never been and would love to share that experience with my loved ones :)
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is coming up in 100 days. It is to Disneyland, of course! Anyone that knows me knows that Disneyland is my ALL TIME favorite place to visit and the fact that our convention is there this year, makes it doubly wonderful!!!! Thank you for all the fun I know we will have, and then my husband will be joining me there after convention for our 28th anniversary celebration at Disneyland.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is France. I want to do the touristy and artsy stuff in Paris...enjoy the foodie/wine scene with my hubby (a chef)...engross myself in the history and architecture of Versailles...lounge on the Riviera...and walk on the beach in Normandy where my grandfather landed so many years ago. Dream vaction...priceless.
ReplyDeleteAny thing would do have not had a holiday for 18 years so an hour away would be nice for a few days or a overseas or interstate just to get away and have a break
ReplyDeleteI recently celebrated 25 years of marriage and escaped to Port Douglas, Australia with MDH (my dear hubby), this wonderful time in far northern Queensland was absolutely perfect, can't get much better than that!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is where ever my husband is. We don't get to go on to many vacations so when we do we go to quiet beaches. We love Oak Island NC, it's so peaceful there and very pretty. We run to Southport a few times during the week and sit on the walkway, you can see all the big ships coming thru. Peaceful

ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be a safari in Africa. I have been to Kenya and Tanzania but would love to see some other animal preserves on this continent. I can still recall the wonderful herds of wildlife we saw and would love to relive that.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous project, love all of the details! My husband and I dream about going to India, our families are from there and we would love to go and visit!

ReplyDeleteSince I dream of attending convention, my husband dreams of seeing the ocean, and my grown daughter still wants to go to Disneyland, my dream vacation would be to attend Convention and then have my family join me when it's done, so either California or Florida sites would fit the bill!

ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be a cruise in sidney austrialla during the last week of december and to bring in the new year watching the fireworks on the bridge. This is on my buckey list and will make it happen one of these days
ReplyDeleteI'd take a vacation under a bridge if it means time away from work!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite vacaction so far was to Prince Edward Island, Canada. My family and I did a pilgrimage of sorts, to all of the sites associated with the author, L. M. Montgomery! Lots of photos and lots of fantastic memories too!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be to Australia. I've seen most of the USA and Europe. I would love to go "down under"!
ReplyDeleteI've already taken ONE of my dream vacations. I went to Ireland with the love of my life, my husband Patrick, on our honeymoon! It was GREAT! I would also have to say my other DREAM vacations would be Germany, Scotland, and Australia.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is a cruise around the world. To have the opportunity to stop in many locations without having to pack and fly over and over sounds heavenly.
ReplyDeleteI just want time with my husband and all 3 kids! With one kid in Iowa, one in Montana and one still at home we never get to all be together. Cruise, beach, mountains, does not matter to me. What matters is who you are with and the memories you share.

ReplyDeleteI love the way you did your vacation project with the Artbook. It is fabulous!!! My dream vacation is really quite simple. I have not seen my brother and one of my sisters since our dad passed away in 2005. The only thing that would make me more than happy would be to spend a weekend with them in Tennessee since it is in the middle of where we all live. Keep up the good work, great products, and awesome giveaways!!!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation was to Ireland with my three kids, my mother and 11 other relatives. We stayed in Ballybunion in County Kerry where my grandfather lived and traced many of his steps. My mother has since passed away. If I wasn't so scared of flying, I would love to return to Ireland to visit Frenchpark in County Roscommon where my grandmother lived.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is anywhere warm with my husband and two kids. Anywhere that my husband and I can just enjoy each others company and marvel at the two amazing children we were blessed with.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be for my husband and I to take our three kids on a European tour for about 3 weeks visiting several countries and soaking in the culture, museums and experiences.

ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be to travel Europe with my husband.
ReplyDeleteMy dream trip...I would love to visit the Galapagos Islands to see the amazing and unique wildlife.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be to Germany to see my oldest son who works there.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to read about all these fun dream vacations! My favorite vacation is Disney World trips, but I do have hopes to visit France one day. It's a wish I've had since Junior High French class.
