The 22nd Day of Thanksgiving: Not Good, but Great...

Communication. Isn’t it interesting that from the time we are born, we yearn to communicate? Even as a tiny baby we learn to convey our need for food, affection, a diaper change, attention, by a variety of cries and sounds. I find this concept fascinating: as we grow, the needs will change throughout the stages of our lives, but the need to communicate does not. Mastering communication may be the essential component to feeling connections, and therefore finding love, in this crazy world of ours. Good communication is okay and brings similar results. But, great communication brings out the golden luster of peace and love in our lives as our relationships grow and deepen.

I believe what Stephen Covey said, “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” I’ve seen, with brilliant clarity, the rich rewards that come from putting in the work to build relationships and communicate effectively. My greatest joys are a result of this effort. From my family to my employees—it makes all of the difference in the world, to show appreciation, give praise, and offer honest communication in a constructive way. I love having an open dialogue with my husband and children with a tone that is good and sweet. The harder I try, the more peace I feel. When I remain open-minded and open-hearted, my soul is filled up. And it doesn’t get any better than that!
