The words gratitude and grateful are some of my favorite words in the whole world. I love them so much I use them many times throughout my day! The reason I love them is because they describe who I am. I am grateful! And November is the perfect month for counting my blessings! So this month, I’d like to share with you “27 Days of Gratitude.” To count down the days to one of my favorite holidays—Thanksgiving!—I’m going to blog about something that I’m thankful for every day.
To kick off this month, I want to start with a huge blessing that my life wouldn’t be the same without: Close To My Heart! People often ask me why I named the company what I did. The answer is simple: because the company represents so many things that are “close to my heart,” from the obvious ones of stamping and scrapbooking, to the more subtle ones of creativity, passion, and celebrating relationships.
For nearly twenty-five years, I’ve worked to build a company where people of all walks of life could find common ground, personal expression, and financial opportunity—I guess it’s what I was looking for all those years ago, when I was a struggling single mom trying to find my place in the world. I couldn’t find a company that offered me all those things … so I created one!
In the two decades since, there have been huge challenges and even some major setbacks—but there have also been rich blessings and beautiful surprises. The gaffes and the gifts have all offered great learning experiences, and I’m grateful for every minute. My favorite part about Close To My Heart? Hearing from, meeting, and working with Consultants, whose stories give me such joy. If you’re a Consultant, then I THANK YOU. Each one of you is a great source of inspiration to me!

ReplyDeleteJeanette, I love where you've taken Close To My Heart; from DOTS and rubber stamps, to the ABC's of Scrapbooking and Reflections (the original) with single color B&T which matched the cardstock (1999), adding the Color Combination Guide~which broke the addage "colors within a season are guaranteed to co-ordinate" allowing us to use colors from different seasons together(!), to absolutely gorgeous multi-colored papers today! What's not to love about your company?!

I love the art inspiration, but I love more than that getting to "know" you as a person. You are a great person and I am so happy you are my friend. Here's to many more years as friends.
