Some days are just so perfect, they are magical. That’s what I felt last weekend, after pulling together a fun day to celebrate autumn with my family.
It all started Saturday morning when I made a round of calls to my children to see if they could go to Gardener Village with David and me. The day was absolutely gorgeous! The sun was warm and the air smelled like autumn leaves. So everyone rearranged schedules and off we went to the little village of shops decorated with pumpkins, haystacks, and delightful splashes of Halloween.
When we arrived, my grandson Noah announced he had forgotten his shoes. How does one forget shoes? He was so excited to go he just hopped in the back of the car without his shoes. His mom Ashley told me they probably needed to go home and I said, “No way, we’ll figure this out. Perhaps a shop will have kids shoes … right?” Well, wouldn’t you know it—the first shop we ran into was a designer shoe shop. We walked in and found the most perfect pair of “camo” style Crocs for Noah. He just looked up and said, “I’ve been praying for shoes and Jesus blessed me.” What a tender moment. He just hugged me and thanked me for his new shoes.
We spent the rest of the day walking through the shops, taking perfect pictures and laughing.
Best of all, when we were all pooped and needed to eat a meal, we found a wonderful bakery and ordered the most delicious sandwiches, salads, and pastries! We laughed at all the stories told and then Ashley asked Jared and Leslie, “So when are you two going to have your next baby?” (Jared’s son Mason just turned one in September.) They just looked at each other and smiled. Jared started to say something and Ashley blurted out, “You guys are already pregnant aren’t you?” They just smiled some more and said, “Yes, we are!"
"Woo-hoo!" I literally yelled it right there! From then on, we were talking and congratulating and woo-hooing and smiling! It was a perfectly wonderful day, one that I will put in a special place called “magic moments.”

Cute! I am really loving all of your stories, and a glimpse into your everyday life.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I saw your daughter Ashley and her husband about a month ago...I kept looking at her thinking she looked so familiar, and then I thought she kind of looks like Jeanette's daughter. When we got home I pulled out my Reflections book, found their picture, and showed my husband. It was so funny.
Awwww, Congratulations Jeanette & family on the new grandbaby to be!!!! That is so awesome!

Wow! Your children having children!!!
ReplyDeleteI still remember them all as the presenters of our annual catalogs past, holding them high in the air dressed in their very best.
Every set of my Convention pictures show them growing up but yet it's hard to imagine them GROWN!
Blessings all around and Congrats, too!
