I said it last week and I’ll say it again: I love my country! As each of us prepares to cast a vote for our new president and other elected officials, I have to be grateful to live in a country where my voice is heard—where I participate in choosing our leaders and laws. After traveling so much this year, I love our wide roads, our safe cars, our many media choices, the ease of finding food and necessities at stores, the security of our homes, our opportunities for quality education, plentiful jobs, and so much more.
I celebrate my commitment as a citizen of the United States of America. Celebrate your country tomorrow by casting your vote for its future—whatever your position may be, let your voice be heard!

What a creation Jeanette! Thank you so much for reminding us of the incredible rights we have been given. Gloria Steinam would be very proud to see this. It just reminds me of what was fought for and that some of us take for granted or don't remember the path that was layed before us to be able to have a voice right now in this moment, making history! Having a right to vote was something that was fought for not given. We as women all to often forget what our Mother's and Grandmother's did to get us here today. I love your thoughtfulness and gratitude for the dedication you have to all of us. My deepest appreciation for sharing.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you keep talking about this. A few weeks ago a friend on the opposite side of the political fence forwarded an email to me that I thought was going to be more of the same. It wasn't.
It was about the women suffregettes and their struggles to bring about women's right to vote.
I have always voted from the time I was first able to at 18. My parents always told me if I don't vote I have no right to complain about government. But after receiving that email, it means so much more. We should never forget those brave women that suffered greatly for our right to vote.
So everyone get out there and vote.
