The 8th Day of Thanksgiving: Creativity

Creativity is a word that has been my lifelong friend. I’ve loved its meaning since I was a little girl making that heart valentine out of red construction paper. I love remembering that kindergartener without a care in the world. Many things have changed in my life from the days of Elmer’s glue and doilies, but my spirit of creativity has never wavered. I am the luckiest girl in the world because I get to play with colors, textures, inks, and embellishments everyday—PLAY is my work! Scrapbooking was my passion as a young teenager. I would tote my 110 pocket instamatic camera with me wherever I went. With only a small allowance and even a smaller job, I used every penny I earned to create beautiful pages with color, glitter and anything else my creative heart could find in the dime or fabric store. Who knew at that time that I would still be passionate about this beautiful art and make a living by sharing my creative innovations with so many people!

My creative journey has led me to create the products I wanted to have in my own scrapbooks. I will always remember the first time I sat with the manufacturer in 1995 who would make my first post-bound, expandable spine album. I showed him my scrapbook pages and told him I wanted to teach the world how to scrapbook my way. His eyes lit up and asked if he could take a few of my pages back to the office with him. From that moment I have had the vision to create the products that the industry has embraced. (Those first albums did become the predominant album found in the market today.) My creative spirit drove the first true 12" x 12" and 6" x 6" albums, page protectors with the 1/2" seam, and the category of designer background and texture paper. It has been a great journey creating these and many more products. I love using them so much that I dedicate each Friday to working with products and dreaming up more.

I’m grateful for creativity—and for the passionate heart that goes with it. It’s helped me turn possibilities into products … products that I hope you enjoy as much as I do!

  1. How funny that you mention "your" albums! My search for the perfect album on an online bulletin board (back in the old days)led me to CTMH and my upline, who turned out to be only 45 minutes from me. The products just keep getting more amazing, and it's like you read my mind sometimes when you develop new items. Even when I see similar items in a store, I usually think, "oh that might be a few cents cheaper, but I really like ours so much better". I LOVE that you do this for us, and even if I were my only customer, I am a CTMH convert for life!
