Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I truly hope your days have been wonderful and full of joy. I have had such a memorable holiday season filled with traditions and good times. I love seeing my family and my friends during the holidays and I especially love remembering the reason for this beautiful season. Thank you, friends, for the many Christmas cards and gifts you sent. It truly brightened my days. I feel very blessed that you are in my life.
I have been overwhelmed with gratitude and wonder as I’ve read the many, many Christmas stories posted here over the past week and a half. I have laughed, and cried. It makes me wish Christmas could last all year long! It rings true that our most cherished memories are those simple acts of love that we have done for one another. I appreciate you and your special memories and stories. I thank you with all my heart—it has truly been one of my favorite gifts this season.

ReplyDeleteI missed your post about the contest...which is okay...but I still wanted to share my most memorable Christmas....
ReplyDeleteI was pregnant with my 4th child....so keep in mind I was HUGELY hormonal!!! lol! And not very hohoho on the holiday's. I was pretty bitter against the world for many odd reasons that year.
Anyway on the 15th of December 2004, I had put my then 2 year old down for a nap...she was fine at that time. A few hours later she woke up with a bad fever 103...I knew immediately she had an ear infection (again). I called and was able to get her an appointment to the Doctor for 3 pm...which gave me enough time to give her some Motrin and find a baby sitter for my two older children. Off to the doctors office we went. When we arrived the nurse took her temperature and it was still high at 101. Sure enough she had an ear infection in both ears. With the prescription in hand and my baby in the other, I was scheduling a follow up appointment when my little girl dropped her Binky, I bent down to pick it up and noticed her face was contorted and turning blue. I knew right away that she was having a seizure of some kind and I started screaming for the doctor (thank goodness we live in a small town and know everyone, plus the Doctor was my Bishop at the time.). He immediately picked her up called the nurse for oxygen and started to take care of my baby. I hurried and called my babysitter and had her find someone to go get my husband at basketball practice (high school coach) I just knew we where going north (to a bigger hospital). By the time my husband came my baby had came out of the seizure, threw up, and past out. Her temperature was 104.6 which put her into the seizure. We ended up staying for 2 hours on oxygen and by then her fever was down to 102. They had given her a shot of antibiotics and sent us home...I know scary huh!! This is the crazy part...when the seizure hit...the doctors office in the middle of December was empty...just us, the doctor was able to focus on my child. When we left at 6:30 pm...30 minutes after closing time...it was full. When we arrived home, totally emotional about this experience, we found a jar of $ on our door step with the book the "Christmas Jar". With a tag that said "Thank you" tied to it.To this day I do not know who put that jar on our door step or why my family was chosen...we were okay, surly there was someone out there who needed it more. The feelings that touched me most was that someone had picked THAT day, that was so scary for my family to let us know they cared. That they wanted us to have a Merry Christmas and our own Christmas Jar story. I have had many wonderful Christmas's before that experience and since..but that will always stand out in my mind because of all the circumstances involved.."for He has a hand in all things." My daughter is now 5 and half. She has not had another seizure since that day...ear infections yes, but nothing that scary. I am eternally grateful for the Christmas Holiday to remember why and who we serve as my family was served that day.
