Many people around the world celebrate Boxing Day on December 26, and its origins and events are diverse. At our house, the day after Christmas begins a different kind of “boxing” activity. I start pulling out all my organizers, storage bins, and containers so that I can pack up my holiday trappings and get a clean start for the new year. In the past, I’ve struggled with what to do with the many Christmas cards and neighbor mementos I receive—I want to keep them all, but my storage solutions just didn’t work for that sort of thing.
But ta-da! Check out this great card-keeper box. 
I started with the Close To My Heart 9" x 9" Memory Keeper, which handily holds just about every standard (and non-standard!) card size. With a little imagination and some of CTMH’s great papers, this magnet-closure box becomes a treasure trove of memories. I plan to make a new box every year and date it so that I can pull out my stash of holiday cards and relive all the memories anytime I want. It’s the perfect, easy way to keep Christmas all year long!

Great Idea Jeanette! Margi Gilbertson gave me one for teaching at stamp camp for our unit meeting. This will be my inspiration as I took down last years photo's that people sent me, which I've proudly displayed for all of 2008 and wondered from year to year what to do with them. I don't want to throw them out. Now I've been inspired on what to do with them! Sweet:) Thanks Jeanette!

ReplyDeleteOk couldn't figure out how to edit LOL. I love the box! You really do beautiful work. This Christmas I made a box for my Grandmother out of our cardstock and paper and filled it with cards that I made for her to use. Your box is a great way to save all the momentos.

I did a Memory Box for my mother when she retired in November, from 40 years nursing. She loved it and she keeps all her cards and cherished items in there. It looks so nice she even has it on the side table in her living room.

Love this! I just ordered my third box, but have yet to do anything with them. I love this idea though--I get so many photo cards and I hate to throw them away. What a pretty way to keep them. As always, you are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI made a box for the first time at Regionals in San Antonio, Texas this past October. I am hooked! I probably would have never tried making it myself. I'm more of a see, ask a zillion questions, then do type of person. Well, this is such a fun and easy project! I've already started making them for all types of things - Christmas cards, Baby Mementos box, etc. It's so fun! Yay!

ReplyDeleteI love our box!! I made one for my mom's birthday and placed her gift inside it and gave it to her. I didn't need to wrap the present as the box was the wrapping! She loved it and my sister wanted one, so for Christmas I made another and placed the gift in it. Everyone I show this box to has fell in love with it!! Thanks Jeanette for this lovely idea!!

I want to create one of these for a great friend of mine who is being deployed next fall. She is going to miss her daughter's senior year of high school which brings tears to my eyes. I hope she can stuff this box with treasures from home to help her feel close even though she is half a world away.
