I love the spring! It’s when nature teases us with a little bud or a surprisingly warm day, just to suggest that maybe SOMEDAY the snow and cold will end. Over the past few weeks, we’ve had plenty of lamb-and-lion weather, alternating between snow and sun so rapidly I’ve got “weather whiplash”!
But I know that spring really is here when we hold our annual Lynton family egg hunt. This weekend, we brought my children and their children together for the ritual. We manage to turn a two-minute egg hunt into an all-day family celebration, complete with a great meal, conversation, and of course, a plethora of plastic eggs filled with treats and treasures. This year, we wanted to expand the scope of the hunt to the grounds of the Close To My Heart corporate offices. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate and it rained all day! No matter, I have the keys to the building and we held our Easter egg hunt in the foyer instead. Though it was cold outside the kids were all sun and smiles: check out these cute little bunnies hopping around! I love their sheer delight in the simplicity of finding a small treat even if it was found around our water feature instead of the grass. They’re just happy to be running and discovering—and for that afternoon last weekend, I felt like one of them! I’m reminded that “spring” isn’t just a season; it’s a verb—time for jumping, running, and “springing” with sheer delight.
