Back in Black!

For my final Halloween scheme of the season, nothing beats a color combination grounded in basic, beautiful—or should I say “BOO-tiful”?—black. For this fresh take on basic black, I sweetened and softened the dramatic base by adding Smokey Plum, Sweet Leaf, and Colonial White. The results are amazing: bold and memorable, yet really smooth and classy.

Check out the layout featuring photos from last year’s Close To My Heart Halloween party. This color scheme maintains a Halloween look but doesn’t upstage bright and colorful photos. It’s perfect to showcase all those crazy costumes (and let me tell, you they were CRAZY—I can hardly wait for this year’s episode!) I also stamped black on black—this classic tone-on-tone treatment is especially effective on my cobweb card, and the fun gingham ribbon and pop of purple on my other card adds just the right amount of contrast to the black. It’s fun to play with color, but it’s also great to come back… to black!

  6. I think this is one of my favorites, too! Love that the background doesn't overwhelm the photos but sets them off beautifully! I'll be using this combination, thank you.
