December is knocking on my door, and so is the itch to experiment with holiday color schemes! Today, I let the holidays in with a vintage twist on color: Barn Red, Desert Sand, Cocoa, and Olive. The combo’s earthy tones work particularly well for religious or serious card sentiments—but they also play nicely in spritely ornaments for my mini-tree. This cute tree proves that you don’t have to spend a ton of money or have Rockefeller-Center high roof clearance for a delightful decoration that brightens up any space.
To create these adorable elf ornaments, start with the “Merry Pursuits” (B1313) stamp set—or another of your choice. Ink and color your stamped images as desired, then trim, leaving just a small border. These small elves are just the right size to fit inside our Foundry Bookplates (Z1147), which I’ve backed with coordinating cardstock and hung with ribbon. Voila! In just a few minutes, you’ll have a fun ornament for your own tree or to share with one of your favorite elves.
