Trick or Treat!

Can we throw a party or what? Last Friday, our corporate training room was transformed into a spooky cemetery—bordered by rustling corn stalks, shrouded in fog and tombstones, and of course, filled with yummy donuts and cider! I was completely surprised and impressed by our amazing Events team for the over-the-top effects and imaginative décor (including the full-sized coffin, which David was all too happy to occupy in his vampire costume. And what a dashing vampire he was—watch out, Edward!)

And speaking of imaginative, one of the things I love about Halloween is the chance to see people in a totally different light than you get to know them 8-5. Talk about some imaginative costumes! It was a hoot to see our Training team dressed as geishas, or our Purchasing team outfitted as “Kings” (King Kong, King of the Jungle, King of Pop, King of Hearts… you get the idea), or our entire Creative Marketing team suited as she-devils. The laughs were as non-stop as the creativity, beginning with a fabulous parade that even included a gaggle of infamous “Snuggies,” mimes, and a hilarious ‘80s rocker (you know who you are.)

Thanks to each of you for participating and reminding me what witty, inventive personalities we have at Close To My Heart—and how much fun we have working together. You made the holiday replete with tricks AND treats!

  5. About the only thing that would get me to uproot my hubby, my kids and leave my beautiful Oregon would be to come work in such a fabulous environment and for such a great boss! If you ever need someone in the tax department, I'm so there.
