Today’s a perfect day for an at-home workshop—it’s a little drizzly outside and the kids are out of school for the President’s Day holiday. A perfect day to stay indoors and make something beautiful! A perfect choice is a card workshop, and I’ve chosen the “Just Because” card workshop from my book “Wishes” (It’s on p. 68). If you didn’t already know, in additions to dozens of single-card patterns, the book also includes several bulk card workshops you can do in an afternoon.
This particular workshop can make 20 cards using the following consumable supplies: 20 card bases, plus 4 sheets of colored cardstock, 2 sheets of B&T (for my cards, I used the forest pattern from the Back Country kit and the gingham pattern from Twitterpated), 1 sheet of cardstock for stamping and embellishments I used Outdoor Denim Mini-Medley). All in all, for 20 cards, the total cost for consumables is only about $.73 per card—it’s as affordable as it is fun!
My color scheme is a great monochromatic blue—it hints at spring, but still feels crisp and wintery: Crystal Blue, Outdoor Denim, Twilight, and a hint of Garden Green. When you follow one of my Wishes workshop patterns, you’ll cut all the papers for all 20 cards at once. It makes assembly a snap! And here’s a hint for working in monochromatic color schemes—use the BACKS of our B&T Duos paper! Each one is printed in a gorgeous design in a percentage of one of our palette colors. The paper designs deliver great dimension and variety, like my Back Country and Twitterpated choices, and using the back sides makes it SO easy to mix papers—even leftovers!—from different kits. Give it a go and you’ll be amazed by what you can do.
The stamp set I’ve used is Dream Big (D1399), and it’s a delight —it’s full of 1”x1” images, so you have plenty to choose from mixing and matching icons and sentiments to create cards that fit your needs perfectly. I love these types of stamp sets because they deliver amazing creative “bang” for a deliciously affordable price. So… if you’re indoors today and looking for some fun, here’s a “work”shop that will have you playing all afternoon—while also creating a stash of cards you can use “Just Because” for any occasion!
