Color Me Monday: Farewell, Indian Summer!

Wow! Last night, Mother Nature really let us have it with a middle-of-the-night rainstorm and wind gusts that blew every last leaf off the trees. Indian summer has officially bid us goodbye, and the chill of fall is finally upon us. When I got up this morning, it definitely felt like fall (or maybe winter!). While I’m a little sad to bid farewell to the warm days, there is something cozy about chunky sweaters on rainy nights and finding frost covering the pumpkins on the porch. As a tribute to the end of October, the studio has whipped up a grand trio of ghoulish artwork featuring a truly autumnal color combination in  Goldrush, Barn Red, Olive, and Black.

I was immediately drawn to the card featuring the cupcake—what an ingenious idea to make a spooky cupcake in these colors using the Cupcake Sprinkles (D1336) set adjacent to the Creepy Cobwebs (D1319) set. Who would have dreamed these two sets could ever appear on the same piece of art together! Just shows you what the magic of color can do to tie disparate images beautifully together.

I also had to laugh at the great Halloween layout made from photos of our 2009 employee party. I haven’t looked at these photos for a year, and it brought back all kinds of wonderful memories (check out the executive team dressed up as the crew from “Gone With The Wind”!). Once again, I’m reminded of the unique purpose of scrapbooking—to preserve those fabulous memories and keep them fresh and at our fingertips anytime we need a smile, a happy tear, or a chance to remember the blessings of life.
