I love the flexibility, durability, and beauty of stamping. Always have, always will! In today’s artwork, I’m showing some fabulous artwork cooked up in our spooky studio that really showcases stamping. Note on all of these items how minimally they’re embellished, yet how complete and ornate and adorable each piece looks. That’s because stamping IS an embellishment. And a perfect one! From cute and simple cards to 3D items and tags (which didn’t use a pattern, by the way), stamping simply WORKS.
Take the haunted house treat box, for example. It uses the “Around the Block” stamp set (D1377, page 70 in the Autumn/Winter idea book), which you’d never think of as a Halloween-themed set. But it can be, when dressed up in today’s color combination of Gypsy, Lagoon, Pear and Cotton Candy.
Change up the artwork to reds and greens and you’d have a Christmas cottage. In pinks and browns, it would be an ideal Valentine treat box. Use the Spring Harmony palette, and the box would be a lovely baby gift or Easter basket. But with the addition of some stamped images from the “In the Month of October” set (C1431), plus a bit of ribbon and just a sprinkle of Opaques, this creepy candy carrier is all about Halloween (now if I could just prevent Kristine from eating all the licorice inside it!).

Stamping is my favorite embelishment, too. I LOVE how you took the Around the Block set and gave so many ideas for it's use. Now I need to get that set! Love the new color pallets also!
ReplyDeleteFabulous ideas Jeanette! LOVE these - every one! The house gift bag project is my favorite though - so incredibly versatile!
ReplyDeleteExcellent work!
I LOVE this! Is there a pattern for the box or did you cover a box? You really got me thinking about a Christmas cottage with a wreath on the door, lights... Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThere isn't a pattern for the box. It was just made out of one piece of 12 X 12 cardstock.
