Artbooking Made Easy: Autumn Layouts

Autumn is upon us, and I’m ready to jump into some fun fall layouts! This season of the year is the perfect time to scrapbook the faces of the ones you are most thankful for. For me, preserving the memories I have made with my family and friends in a scrapbook masterpiece is a great way to show my gratitude for them.

Of course, making works of art is all about personal taste, but there are elements from the Cricut® Artbooking cartridge that I am sure will enhance any project you construct. Get a glimpse of some leaf-laden layouts in this video:

I know you fell for a few of the techniques you saw on these layouts!

You saw that the arrows overlay used on the Autumn Harvest layout looks fabulous as it is, but did you notice that the shapes that overlap it are actually cut directly from the same overlay, just in another color?

Two shapes were cut in Honey cardstock, sanded, and attached to the page so their ends touched. With the addition of Sparkles, these shapes stand out against the backdrop of the overlay.

A more subtle addition to this layout is the creatively stamped tree on the right page.

Using the Cityscape stamp set, the tree trunk was stamped in Desert Sand ink and the leaves in Olive. The leaves could just have easily been stamped in other fall colors—Ruby, Goldrush, Saddle, or others—and added a fabulous effect.

Now take a look at the "Give Thanks" layout:

The tree shape similarly uses fun stamping to add some autumn zest. This tree trunk is a piece of Chocolate cardstock, stamped using the Universal Backgrounds stamp set. The wood grain look is perfect for the tree wood, and the stamping on the photo mats on the layout coordinate.

The leaves you see across the layout make great use of autumn colors. Notice that each one is backed with a complementary color to give it some dimension. These leaves were cut using real dial size, at various sizes, to make eye-catching clusters. Don’t they make you want to walk outside and play in your own leaf pile?

These pieces are here to give you some autumn inspiration. The possibilities are endless when you exercise your own creativity, so give some leafy layouts a whirl. You will be grateful you did!
