Today’s episode of Artbooking Made Easy is all about creating elegant mini books in various sizes to fit your own sophisticated style. Remember that all of the cuts in the Cricut® Artbooking cartridge are linked, so you can cut all of the elements for an 8" album as easily as you can for an 8 ½" x 11" album – all with just a single turn of the dial.
The mini albums you’re about to see in this episode are made up of some uniquely-sized shapes, so pay close attention:
That 8 ½" x 11" Cherish Love Mini Album is so full of personality! It celebrates all the little moments that happen during an engagement photo shoot: everyone gets to see the final product in the announcements, but it’s nice to have a gorgeous little book that includes all those details!
Take a look at this page in the book. You can create the same look by cutting a collection of coordinating pennants and stitching them into a layered banner. A helpful trick is to stitch or adhere your shapes onto a strip or panel of cardstock first and then adhere the strip or panel onto the page itself. This helps keep your base pages free of mistakes while you are playing around with the positioning of the elements.
Another contributor to the fun personality of the album is the assortment of hand-drawn borders around many of the Cricut®-cut shapes. Take your shapes and add a personal touch by outlining them with a black pen, adding a flourish here and there along the border.
Try outlining your title pieces, creating borders to help them stand out more. It also will help to tie in other handwritten elements on your page, like journaling. Also try printing your photos directly onto White Daisy cardstock and then drawing borders around them with a regular journaling pen.
I love how the artist of this album has mixed and matched mediums to create custom, mixed titles and sentiments. Titles cut with the Artbooking cartridge contrast nicely with the letters from the Keyboard Kraft Alphabet on this page.
The second album here, the 8" Special mini album is just as elegant and fun as the first.
See how the artist who created it used the negative space of overlays and other shapes in various ways. Many of them are backed withB&T paper or cardstock (as one normally would with the overlays). However, one specifically is simply left with the negative cut on the base page, giving a window effect.
We see plenty of great overlays backed with colored papers and cardstocks, but what kind of look would come if you backed one with a photo? It would stand out, indeed! Or, if you were looking for a way to help your overlay blend better with your base, you could sand the edges of your overlay to reveal the white core that would lay nicely on a piece of White Daisy cardstock.
You also see here some Artbooking collection stamp sets used with great elegance! The flourish and damask-patterned stamps have been used as borders around pages to create cohesion with the pages that have fancy overlays.
One of my favorite features of this mini album is its use of white! This photo has been printed on cardstock and the “lovely” sentiment stamped in White Daisy ink. The photo, the photo mat, and the flags that sit directly below the title have been sanded on their edges so that their white cores show through. The entire page is tied nicely together with the white theme—a very elegant touch indeed.
When you try some of the techniques and the very classy “elegant” keys of the Artbooking cartridge for yourself, you’ll have plenty of reason to bask in the beauty of your pages! And this week, when you leave a comment here describing the most elegant event you have ever attended, you’ll be entered into a contest for your very own Cricut® Artbooking collection. I’ll announce the winner in two weeks. Happy elegant scrapbooking!

Artbooking has made creating your own mini books and scrapbooking so easy! Thank you Jeanette for another great video to help us!!
ReplyDeleteAll three cartridges are amazing. Love the brilliant thought process (thankyou Jeanette) that put these together, the usefulness of each one, the amazing amount of delightful designs in each one and of course the stamp sets that fit inside the designs to make our projects even easier to accomplish.
ReplyDeletethey truly do come together easily and elegantly... I love all of the CTMH cricut cartridges!
ReplyDeleteI love the tip on fit to page. Thank You
ReplyDeleteThat tip on sizing was very clearly explained. I get this now ! Thank you for making this cartridge. It appeals to all types of crafters.
ReplyDeleteThe CTMH cartridges really are the best out there. They have so much variety! As for my most elegant evening out, hmmmm........, I suppose it would have to be New Years 2000. Dinner, dancing, and a night at a Bed and Breakfast!
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I've ever attended would have to be the Army Ball. My husband just retired from 26 years of service, but I've always said there's nothing like a man in uniform. It was so much fun dressing up in a ball gown and attending such a great function that honored our brave men and women in service!
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I've ever attended was a Make a Wish ball. It was elegant in the usual way of pretty gowns and handsome tuxedos and fancy foods, but the most elegant part of the evening was the cause that it raised money for. To see some of the children there, dressed in their finest and representing children in need of hope in their lives. The smile on their faces, particularly at the after-the-ball candy bar I volunteered with was contagious!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful samples! The most elegant event I have attended was a 50th celebration for the agency I work for. It was held downtown in a very fancy hotel, great meal, important VIPs, really wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I attended the wedding of his good friends, held outdoors on an out of the way portion of a golf course on the lower western slopes of Mt. Ruapehu. The stunning scenery perfectly set off the loveliness of the bride and her two attendants, who were dressed in a natural green. All three had hand-woven and embroidered shawls. Nothing like a bit of fresh air to bring a blush to cheeks and a fresh, wind-blown beauty to hair-do's!
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant thing I have ever attended was the Hobbit NYC premiere! I won a trip to NY last year and it was fantastic! I loved the red carpet and seeing all the celebs unfortunately we were not able to take pics but its was elegant inside the Zigfield!
ReplyDeleteI about jumped out of my skin when the first Cricut cartridge Art Philosophy was introduced. Then Close To My Heart won me over with Artiste and now Artbooking! When I got Art Philosophy in the mail I sat down with my Cricut and cut EVERYTHING out in 2" to 3". I had an array all around me when my sister-in-law came into the room. I was in heaven. :)Thank you Jeanette for the best Cricut cartridges out there!
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I've ever attended was the NASCAR banquet when it was held at the Waldorf Astoria. Staying at the Waldorf in December was like a fairytale.
ReplyDeleteThe mini albums are an awesome feature of this new cartridge <3
ReplyDeleteI am afraid I have not been to many really elegant affairs. But to pick one I would have to say my daughters wedding it was beautiful at the gardens where we held it.
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I've attended would have to be the captains dinner for a cruise I went on.
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I've attended was an award gala at a company I worked for prior to kids. My husband and I eloped so I missed having a big wedding. I'm okay with it because I have a beautiful daughter and two awesome sons and I'm going to help them create THEIR special day! I'll be doing invitations, flowers, table decor, party favors and anything else that can be crafted. Thank goodness for my Cricut and my CTMH carts!
ReplyDeletePaige
My most elegant affair was Formal night on Royal Caribbean. I just love CTMH!

ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I've ever attended was an orchestra playing in the Neuschwanstein castle in Germany (the castle inspired disney himself). It is a very exclusive event held once per year with only about 50 people in attendance. You sit in the kings hall filled with chandeliers, candles and gold and listen to beautiful classical music. It was like being in a dream. I was a very lucky girl to attend such an event.
ReplyDeleteI love the artwork in this post! Can't wait to create elegant albums if I win!
My most elegant event? Probably my own wedding reception, at least it was elegant in my mind...
ReplyDeleteI love the CTMH carts. They are wonderful and simple to use. My most elegant time was my wedding day at Disneyland.
ReplyDeleteI tried very hard to make my own wedding elegant. It did pour rain, which looked romantic in some photos.
ReplyDeleteMy most elegant event that I ever attended was the Queen's Tea at Buckingham Palace with my friend Susan. I love CTMH. Hope to be the lucky winner!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of outlining the elements.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say the most elegant event I have ever attended was my aunt and uncles wedding when I was 14. I was a junior bridesmaid, and it was amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I have been to was a wedding here in England. I'd made all the wedding stationary and the Bride invited my husband & I. It was very classy, very elegant and very in love of nature. It was one of those 'you only see in movies' type weddings. I'll never forget it and it wasn't even mine!
ReplyDeleteI think the most elegant event I have been to was my own wedding reception. It was in the St Francis hotel on Union Square in San Francisco--such a beautiful room and wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteLove making mini albums!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite elegant event was my daughter's senior prom last spring. Usually she is a jeans and gray tee shirt kinda gal but she found the perfect dress for her, she accessorized it perfectly, and she really let herself shine. I couldn't have been happier for her!
ReplyDeleteI think the most elegant evening I've ever attended was the first formal night on a Princess Cruise. Everyone dressed to the nines, servers with trays of hors d'ourves and drinks, and an orchestra playing in the piazza, dinner with the best serving staff on the planet....so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is rewlly a fantastic cartridge. The possibilities are endless. The video is inspiring thanks !

So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAs the wife of an Army officer, I attended quite a few elegant events. My favorite was the Graduation Banquet at West Point when my son graduated from The United States Military Academy in 2009. It was a beautiful evening and I was escorted by 3 handsome men, my father-in-law, my husband, and my son.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages and I love all the tips!!
ReplyDeleteI was once privileged to attend a retirement party for a man who had been mayor of our town for nearly 20 years. My husband was one of the speakers, I was eight months pregnant with our eighth child, and we had a wonderful time! There were more than 400 people in attendance and my clever hubby brought down the house with laughter.
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event...hmmm...we don't do elegant real often these days. Probably the wedding of the son of a close friend is the most elegant event I've attended recently. Would love to win Artbooking, as she's asked me to help her make albums of wedding pictures! Have a merry and blessed Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun to use the cuts from our CTMH cartridges to make unique gifts and pages. I just need more time to play!

ReplyDeleteI have been a huge fan of Cricut for a long time and it is what led me to CTMH from Stampin Up. I LOVE our Cricut cartridges and truly believe that they are the best value of all the cartridges out there. Jeanette and the CTMH crew have done an excellent job of giving us everything that we need to create fabulous works of art with the push of a button.

ReplyDeleteThese video tutorials make it a little less scary to design with Artbooking. I do appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteI would like to say that I have been to a very elegant event but unfortunately I can't. The closest I came was going to a ball many years ago and I made my own dress. My life has not been easy but I have made the most of it and I am now thrilled to be part of the CTMH family and being able to stretch and challenge my creativity.
ReplyDeleteAll of the Close To My Heart Cartridges are wonderful. So easy to use and so versatile. Can't wait to try the Artbooking one. It can be used for scrapbooking, card making or even decorating. Love all the ideas!

ReplyDeleteI love all the of the cartridges. So many great things to use. Artbooking is my favourite. The mini albums are so quick and easy to do and such a variety. ReplyDeleteBTW-- who ever created the CTMH Cricut cartridges, is a genius!!
Can't wait until I can get this cartridge and make all these awesome mini books!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to too many "elegant" events, as I'm a pretty simple person. I have to say though there are three places that stick in my mind. One, my wedding. Two, the Awards ceremonies at the CTMH convention. Finally, my stepdad took my brother and I to a very fancy restaurant on the top floor of Harrah's in Lake Tahoe. It actually made me nervous. Let's just say I like a more casual atmosphere...and fewer forks. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I've attended was my wedding. This is a great cartridge. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLove all the cartridges. Thanks to CTMH for convincing me to buy a Cricut!
ReplyDeleteMy pick for one of the most elegant events I have been to is a little unusual. I recently attended a baby shower that I would consider elegant. The people were dressed in everyday regular clothes but the food and decorations were amazing. The dessert table contained all sorts of treats that were so beautiful you hated to touch or even consider eating the rose covered cupcakes that looked like they were dipped in sugar crystals. The centerpieces were tool surrounded bowls with cabbage patch dolls each with amazing crocheted baby hats.
ReplyDeleteCricut helps you step up your creativity. Thanks for the ideas.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! My husband isn't into elegance, but our wedding was pretty amazing:) That was 11 years ago! Looks like I need to attend another elegant event soon...
ReplyDeleteI just discovered Close to My Heart products earlier this year. I enjoy learning different ways to use the products to create cards and scrapbook page layouts! The most elegant event I attended would be my wedding. The ceremony and reception were held downtown at the Baker Street Train Station. It is an old train station that has been revamped as a hall for various occasions. The detailing and vintage feel of the building made our special day even more memorable. Thank you for products that allow us to create amazing detailing as we try to capture and display our elegant events :)
ReplyDeleteI attended the wedding for my husband's co-worker that qualifies as very elegant and is the most elegant affair I can recall having attended. It was very classy and well planned.
ReplyDeleteI am new to Cricut and Close To My Heart. Dear Hubby got me a used Cricut Expression for our anniversary on December 15th. My friend that found the Expression for me invited me to a Scrapbooking Group meeting and lunch today. I met the nicest ladies who have been doing scrapbooking and card making long before the new tech gadgets of today were even thought of. Now I am hooked, for sure!! The most elegant evening I have ever attended was the Captain's Dinner on a Carnival cruise to the Virgin Islands. Everyone wore gorgeous gowns and tuxes and jewelry that I have only ever seen in movies and magazines. What a memory of a lifetime!!

ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I have ever been to was attending the formal dinner on a Caribbean cruise. I had found this amazing silky chocolate brown dress that fit me beautifully (& I really did feel beautiful!) My friends did my hair up with some draping curls. After dinner, we had pictures taken from the ship's photographers and I got this most amazing shot of myself - one of my all time favorite pictures. It was such a fun evening!
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant event I ever attended was my Junior Prom. Ohh so many years ago but I can still remember the inexpensive gown my mom and dad saved for and the fake fur wrap my sister bought me. The elbow length gloves and the first elegant hair do I ever had. I felt like a queen!
ReplyDeleteCannot WAIT to get my hands on this cartridge! Most elegant event I have ever attended was an Amway Convention. We stayed at a 5 star resort in Hot Springs VA and it was beautiful. CTMH Convention in Dallas TX was pretty close to tops too! Love CTMH!
ReplyDeleteI just love scrapbooking!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this cartridge and your blog! Jeanette, certainly one of the most elegant events I have ever attended was a black tie wedding at Oheka Castle in NY. Simply magical!
