In March, I blogged about our Annual Employee Appreciation Breakfast. I’ve been inundated with your requests for insight on the decorative pom-poms that adorned our event. Weren’t they bright and lively! Our great events staff put them together following instructions from a Martha Stewart idea. If you’d like to try them yourself, here are the instructions, from Martha to me to you!
To Make the Pom-Poms
Colored tissue paper
24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire.
1. Stack 8-10 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue.
2. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.
3. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half.
4. Slip over center of folded tissue; twist.
5. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.
6. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.
7. Tie a length of monofilament to floral wire for hanging.

While I was dreading turning the big 50 I remembered this quote and it always brings a smile to those I share it with.
Back in the 70s, my class used to win all the homecomeing float contests by making TONs of these pom poms and covering wire mesh. One year we made a huge pink octopus! Thanks for bringing back the memories!
