You take my breath away! You’re so beautiful, perfect, and loved—after nine months of waiting, we can’t believe you’re finally here. I want you to know a few things about your family, about me, and about the journey you’ve just begun.
First, your family. Know that you are wanted. Truly, deeply wanted to be a member of this family, with brother Noah and sister Belle eager to teach you, play with you and welcome you home. Your mom wasn’t sure she’d ever have a third child. After years of praying and hoping, here you are—Ashley’s answer and miracle.
Next, something about me. You don’t know it yet, but you’re my namesake as we both share the same middle name, “Ann.” Ashley told me she planned to name you after me, as “She wouldn’t be here without you, mom.” I guess that shows the lasting bond between mother and daughter. My wish is that you and Ashley will share the same bond that Ashley and I do. I could wish you no greater legacy.
Finally, this journey of life. You’ve just begun it, and yet I can already see the determination in your little face, the strength in your grip. These characteristics will serve you well (and they also let me know that you’re definitely a Lynton!) When I look at you, I see a path of promise. I feel so uplifted and reminded of the purpose of this life: some tests, some joys, and lots of learning. And as I see your nose that resembles mine or your sweet cheeks that resembles Ashley—I know that with each new grandchild born, my life will go on and on. Thank you for that gift.
I love you,
Nana
