Answer: In our house, I'm "nana." Like Goldie Hawn, who chooses to call herself a "Glam-ma," the term "grandma" isn't one I gravitate to. But I DO gravitate to those darling kids and I love being nana. My favorite part of the role is simply watching the kids be kids. They are absolutely hysterical, from their funny expressions to the wacky things they say to their adorable first steps to their beyond-wise insights.
Spending time with the grandkids (who range in age from 10 years down to 2 months), is like watching the best movie ever. I'm entranced. I can't look away. I'm on the edge of my seat for the next plot twist, the next punchline. I hope the credits never roll, because these performers never disappoint. The kids love me unconditionally and they tell it like it is. It's so refreshing and they keep me young, and better yet, they keep me laughing.

ReplyDeleteJeannette: It is so much more relaxing being a grandparent and not have the worries and stresses of actually raising the children, like we have with our own. Blessing is they are wonderful, unique little beings. I too, love being around my grandchildren and listening and watching them! Many blessings to you and yours.
