Spotlight on Art: Inspiration

It’s time for our second Artwork spotlight of 2012. In case you missed it, this year I’ll be spotlighting artwork created by artists in the Close To My Heart Art Studio while also inviting all of you, my blog readers, to submit your artwork for future spotlighting as well. I’ve already started getting some submissions and am looking forward to seeing even more!

For those that have asked about submitting Studio J® projects, the answer is: of COURSE I would love to see your beautiful artwork made using this innovative software. Please follow the instructions from the initial blog post and submit the JPEGs of your completed Studio J projects the same way you would submit the photos of your other finished work. As artists, we find inspiration in anything and everything – inspiration is all around us. Today’s featured artwork from the Close To My Heart art studio shows inspiration turned into finished artwork. I’ll show first the original photo and then the artwork that was created based on that piece.

First up is this adorable picture of Monica’s precious baby, Maya:

The artist drew from the soft colors and the flowery elements to create a layout around this photo. The color usage is very controlled, and you can see how she created her own background paper using the new Card Word Puzzle stamp set (C1494). I also just love the way she has used the Bohemian assortment flowers to mirror the crocheted flowers on Maya’s hat. The flowers have been cut and then rolled together with some of the 3D flowers from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge – beautiful, isn’t it?

Next up comes a card that was inspired by this bag that our artist spotted on an ETSY shop:

You can see again how closely the color scheme of the card matches that of the purse. But you’ll also notice that the card carries over the stitching as well as just a touch of metal for an elegant and chic finished piece:

Last of all, take a look at this picture found on a do-it-yourself blog:

The colors in this picture are so audacious and trendy right now – who could resist them? Look how the card below recreates the color scheme, also adapting the floral motif. I think those colorful sparkles add just the right touch for catching the feel of those cute shoes:

There are so many sources for inspiration all around – even in little everyday things that you may happen across in a department store or while cruising the web. When you let the artist in you turn those inspirations into heartfelt artwork, you spread that inspiration to others who see what you have made, and the cycle of inspiration goes on and on!
