Spotlight on Art: Fresh, Fabulous color possibilities

Every time we introduce new colors to our color palette, it is exciting to see just how they are going to fit in. It’s almost like watching your child in a new social situation—how well will he play with the new kids? Who will she get along with best? Who will be the new best friends? In addition to the 6 new colors that have joined our color palette, the latest Idea Book has some other color surprises that are really mixing things up.  This card will give you an idea of what I mean.

This card makes use of several of the new, kit-specific colors introduced in the Autumn / Winter 2012 Idea Book. You’ll be able to pick out the kraft strip and the White Daisy pinwheel, and many of you will recognize the second color down as Cotton Candy. As for the others, at the top down we have a base made from the Avonlea Linen cardstock, below the kraft strip you’ll see the Flirty Yellow, followed by Cotton Candy, then Flirty Raspberry, then La Belle Vie Pink, and lastly, Avonlea Green down there in the corner. That’s right, they come from three different kits – Avonlea, Flirty, and La Belle Vie – but look how nicely they get along together!

You’ll see several of the same colors on this layout, with the addition of Avonlea Teal. Just like our B&T’s, which can be blended so smoothly from kit to kit, the cardstocks – even the cardstocks chosen to be specific to individual kits – can be mixed together to great effect. On another subject, if you love the pattern used in this layout, check out our newest how-to publication, Make It From Your Heart.

You’ll find plenty of combinations that work with these new, fun colors. Here is Smoothie thrown into the mix, along with some Desert Sand stamping. Be adventurous in your color combinations—you never know what is going to work until you try it out!
