"I never win anything!" That's what Beckie Lehman of Osh Kosh told me. But she needs to revise that statement considerably after winning one of Close To My Heart's biggest prizes ever—a "Win A Workshop Weekend" announced this past Convention.
Hi, it's Kristine again, freshly returned from the beautiful foliage and friendly faces of Wisconsin, where I had the unique privilege of delivering Beckie's prize. She won a full day's workshop with 20 guests of her choosing, including all the products needed to complete some amazing projects (12 in all: 4 layouts, 6 cards, and 2 Cricut boxes!), plus giveaways, treats, and even $500 in personal sales credit for the month.
She was a perfect partner for this event, bringing together tons of fun, energy and food! I knew even before we got started that it was going to be a great day. In fact, we were greeted in the parking lot an hour before our start time by two of her customers who had said they'd gotten up at 3 a.m., too excited to sleep! It was like Christmas morning, and we did shower everyone with over $100 in products each, plus all the paper and instruction needed for the day.
Her customers and team members were SUCH fun, even willing to don mustaches for the event—and yes, I wore one too. Check out Beckie and me posing with our 'staches, as well as the whole gang, ready to start their day of creativity.
We had drawings for fabulous giveaways throughout the day, and because we were using a portion of a daycare center (which had oodles of children's toys), Beckie had the genius idea to make every winner work for her prize. To claim a prize, Beckie told the group they'd have to do a stunt with one of the children's toys—we had people sliding down slides, bouncing on the hippity hop, climbing through tunnels, riding tricycles, you name it—clearly they LOVE Beckie, because why else would adult women in mustaches ride tricycles on a Saturday afternoon for a tube of Glitz Gel?
A special treat of the day were all the special treats: a potluck smorgasbord, sponsored by all of Beckie's wonderful friends. Everything was delicious, but Joni's "Butterfinger Torte" really stole the show. Everyone was talking about it, and yours truly probably had three servings. (But I washed it all down with a Diet Coke, so the calories don't count, right?)
I asked Joni if it was OK to share the recipe, because I guarantee it will be a hit at your house, too. Here it is, as simple as it is fantastic:
Butterfinger Torte
To make crust, combine 1 stick melted butter, 1 C. brown sugar, and 2 C. graham cracker crumbs in a 9x13 pan. Let harden for 15 minutes in freezer.
For filling, mix together:
2 8-oz. packages of softened cream cheese
2 C. powdered sugar
4 T. peanut butter
Then, fold in 1 16-oz. tub of Cool Whip (Joni said she uses "light" Cool Whip, which I think made me giggle audibly!)
Let the entire pan of goodness set up in the fridge for a few hours. Just before serving, top with plenty of crushed Butterfinger candy bar pieces. Holy cow, this was delicious.
We concluded the day happy, tired, and full of good food, darling projects, and wonderful camaraderie. Thank you, thank you, Beckie Lehman and to each of you who made Saturday's Win A Workshop an incredible experience!

Awe, this looks fun. Loved the pictures and the stories to go with. I think I giggled through most of it. What a fabulous group of ladies! Congrats, Beckie! :)
